I've fallen asleep standing up before. You just have to be tired enough. Used to happen to me in boot camp and while out to sea when in the navy due to going to long without sleep between work jobs and being on the clock.

@Psychol-Snooper I did see a friend lose consciousness from being low blood sugar before when he stood up too quickly and it was freaky as hell. He's better now because he's on dialysis and takes meds but that was a rough couple of months. He was in danger of going into diabetic shock if he didn't eat frequently enough and I wasn't used to having to be worried about that. A couple times I waited too long before making sure he got something to eat (we were living together at the time) and he lost consciousness. Once I caught him but a couple times he hit the floor and I felt absolutely horrible about it. I'm just grateful there was never any concussion as he twice hit his head. Until it's under control diabetes issues can be a real risk.

@JaneAustenAteMyCat That's true. Fortunately I don't have that problem anymore. my lifestyle has changed a lot since then and my work life isn't as demanding anymore. But yeah I'd hate that when that would happen. I managed to catch myself all but twice. Once I caused a minor rear-ender and another time I ran into the median wall on the local highway. Fortunately at a lower speed, just car damage but no injury.

@limbinniaq a tank manner? Is this Germany? I'm in the US and we had the draft but it ended in 1974 after they evacuated from Vietnam. The military here is all done on only volunteer basis now.
