  3. The current model very much is win/lose and that's why I don't support it. There's no reason why everyone can't benefit at the same time. I'm not saying everything will be perfect that's impossible but I literally see no good reason why all business transactions shouldn't be required to be win-win & all workplaces shouldn't be required to be win-win and meaningfully participatory. Imagine the benefits this would bring to society if we had a simple paradigm shift. What's wrong with a value system that demands that everyone benefit? I mean why are some people entitled to "win" but because, I don't know, the universe doesn't like them or they're less worthy or they're the the wrong race or color or ethnicity or class, others are just "born to lose" and they just have to suck it up and accept it? No way that is not my value system I'm not going to accept that. And for some people that can't seem to get it, it doesn't mean that we're all going to live like rock stars or everyone's going to have the exact same level of wealth that's impossible and I wouldn't want that, it's that the fundamental business model needs to switch from win/lose to win/win, same as the workplace, whether you're in the public or the private sector. There is no reason why everyone can't meaningfully benefit from a particular arrangement. In fact in my opinion, it's not an ethical arrangement unless everyone does meaningfully benefit. Maybe some will benefit a little bit more than others that probably can't be helped but there's no reason why everyone's basic interests can't be looked out for, this includes the public's and our communities' (our collective health and our physical environments) I don't need to go too macro but just imagine if we had a positive mindset towards other countries instead of an exploitative one but that's getting into a bigger political issue. But you all can see where I'm coming from.

  25.  @RextheRebel  that is completely bizarre you would argue that people shouldn't have freedom to go where they wish. That's pretty fash of you. You want people to have LESS freedom??? Why? I mean that's pretty 1984 of you to say that people shouldn't be able to emigrate where they wish. I get your sensitive about immigration but I hope you don't feel that people should be prisoners of their stupid government. Obviously citizens should be able to leave their home country whenever they want and reenter whenever they want. Maybe you were trying to say that immigration should be controlled but not emigration- the outflow of citizens from a given country to another nation for temporary travel or permanent move (legal immigration or passport travel) But I get it you're afraid of outsiders and non-whites. That's too bad. That's just so unnatural for me. I'm Wht but my partner is Black. I've been around other races all my life. I don't know what to say to change your mind & I probably won't today but these are just insights into my values. I'm not xenophobic so I mean I don't understand why people are afraid of other people who were born elsewhere; doesn't really make sense to me. We're all human beings. There are different cultures with different belief systems, I don't agree with every type of belief but I try to respect other cultures. This country is currently full of people from dozens and dozens of racial and ethnic backgrounds, including Native Americans whose roots go back 10-20,000 years. This country was built on non-stop immigration since 1609 (& no one asked the natives if they minded if other people came here). Now you act like we should put up a wall. That's just crazy. For positive or negative reasons people have always moved around. I understand in the ancient world they had walls but it was a completely different world, a simple world. Those measures were to try to keep out military invasions, not regular people. (And then there was the Berlin Wall which was a unique situation) This country is extremely racially diverse right now, and while it's certainly not evenly distributed, overall it's a melting pot; and you're worried about adding other non-white people into our mix?? I hate to break it to you but you're too late. Diversity is here. Yes it's a finite planet but there is more than enough to go around in my belief. We have so much wealth in this country; most of it gets horded amongst the ultra-wealthy or wasted, which is pretty sad, but even what remains is still plenty. I don't know how to prove this to you but I know it's true. You think there's millions of migrants coming in? Lol no. You are misinformed. There's 10-40K a year max. Now that is a number that can be verified. We COULD accept millions comfortably but there's only 25K roughly give or take each year, a tiny fraction. Even if it were true, 10M is nothing in a country as large as ours. There's 330M people in this country among mostly 48 lower contiguous states. You really think we don't have room to put people?? Obviously they're not going to be evenly distributed but we certainly have room for people to spread out. As far as physical resources we have those coming out the yin yang. There's more than enough raw materials, housing, & food to go around. The problem is as I said too much is being wasted, a disgraceful reality, but believe me it's there. This is the most abundant (or at least one of the most abundant) nations in earth. I mean if our population jumped up 10M over the next two years we could easily accommodate that. After all, 20 years ago the population was maybe 290M. How did we possibly accommodate 40M new people in just 20 years; People who were born here and legal immigrants? Well we did. They're out here & the world didn't end or the sk fall down. So what does it matter if we add 2M more next year? Provided they don't all converge in one town or city it would be fine. Again I'm not suggesting we take in 2M tomorrow, but I believe we could easily accommodate that much & more, especially if they were given transitional assistance including financial benefits meaning they would be able to buy what they needed thus providing commerce and consumption locally. The point is there's no magical number that this ginormous piece of land we call the US can comfortably accommodate. We could probably easily double our current population if resources were more efficiently allocated. You're welcome to believe as you wish, I don't think I'm going to be changing your mind tonight but I am telling you that you believe a myth that we have scarcity in this country, or even the world. There are stats on this, I don't have them in front of me but if you're curious the videos are out there and they're very informative. Fact is there's no need for anyone to be poor in this country. ALL poverty here is artificially created either directly or indirectly, via things like piss poor wages, lack of healthcare, no job security, lack of psych support, lack of affordable housing, unaffordable higher ed, etc. Something like 40% of all food produced is wasted via various means. Supposedly we have something like 5 or 6 housing units for every homeless person. Oh we have plenty here to go around you can best believe me on that, or look it up yourself. It's just being misused. Secondly, consider appreciating diversity. Wouldn't it be boring if everyone was the same? I live in San Diego which is close to the US/Mexican border. I've lived around diverse regions all my life, to me it's natural. Maybe it's time to try to expand your horizons a bit. Like it or not the US has been racially diverse since before it was even created. Not as much so as today ofc but increasingly so every year. Just some stuff to keep in mind. I know it's tempting to always want to be afraid of something out there but to me that's just not a very constructive attitude. It's not empowering. I mean aren't we all more or less the same on the inside? Yeah yeah I know that's a trite saying but isn't it true?? Aren't we all human beings? Does national origin even matter? Well it doesn't matter to me- at all. I don't care where someone's from I just need to know that they don't mean me any harm and as long as I can be assured of that then I welcome them to this land and I wish them well. I mean people bring their hard work, their talents, and their contributions. You act like all they do is take. Sure they take but they pay for what they use in most cases and they give their work and their various knowledge bases in return. Same as the rest of us. Life is a never-ending cycle of give and take with everyone. You shouldn't look at legal versus illegal immigration any differently. It should all be legal because the door should be open to everyone. I want everyone to feel like like they have a place here. Why would I want some people to feel shut out, especially if they're desperate?? If we have the means to help, them we should. That's my value. Of course we should help our own people too and I talk about that all the time but regarding outsiders we should just open the goddamn borders, let everyone come through and help those who need it. I mean we could get this done tomorrow. I just want to get it done! I can't believe our gross political system is stretching out this issue for votes. That's really disgraceful. People will spread out & filter out just the way that local domestic citizens do now. They're not all going to go to one city or town, it's not going to be a glut, if that's what you're worried about. Plus we can set up efficient temporary housing near the border while we're processing everyone. They do this elsewhere to handle large temporary population. Plus, with better urbanism and city management we can safely house and service more people more efficiently in denser areas- which would benefit local populations as much as immigrants.
