The only type of residences that large businesses should be able to own are apartment complexes because it's pretty difficult for a single individual to build, own, maintain, and insure an entire full-size complex. So I can see why a business would be involved there however, no duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes or SFDHs. NONE OF THAT! I don't trust any large business to manage "homes". Will my opinion change the law tomorrow? Unfortunately no, but I believe this is how it should be. Until we slap down these corporate predators with real consequences and hard regulations and laws, this shit ain't gonna change. If they went after corporate predators like this with HALF of the dedication and earnestness they go after shutting down harmless and beneficial small weed shops and weed farms in CA who can't afford the sky-high and IMO corrupt licensing fee (kind of like the payola you pay to your local mafioso to let you do business; which then denotes these suppliers as underground or "illegal") all of this nonsense would be stopped tomorrow.

Democrats don't care either, they only pretend to. It's a two-headed snake which likes to eat our face. I don't believe any mainstream politician has the morals to give a s**t about this issue. I believe change is going to have to come from ballot measures.

Wait, did they really want to more than double your rent in one year??? Of course it goes without saying that should be blatantly illegal. Rent increases during any 12 months should be limited to say, 5% maximum. They're killing people out here and bleeding people dry and the politicians are just whistling a jaunty tune while it happens. I guess unless you're in the renting public where it's happening to you you're either unaware of the problem or don't see why it matters. I'm not against some mild or reasonable profit by landlords, nobody wants to operate at a loss, but this is out of control.
