  1. Yep, not surprising. My solution is market controls by law. I go into details on my other comment. Also, as someone else mentioned, anything we can do to exit the corporate food supply is GOOD. It's better for your health, your community and your bottom line usually. Buy local and independent as often as you can! Your community, health, family and (usually) finances will thank you! Check out CSAs, local farmers, farmers markets and cow-shares for more!

  3. And this is why price controls and profit controls are so necessary. Market controls easily prevent this. None of which this country has btw because lawmakers are bought and paid for here by big business. So until that changes, big business will continue to run the show. A rant: F8ck the "free" and unchecked market. What a misguided phrase that I am so sick of hearing at this point in my life. Besides, the private sector isn't "free" in the US, it's rigged as hell. It's absolutely rigged in favor of the biggest firms in every industry, and that mean customers, communities and workers LOSE. These giant corporations don't deserve "freedom", they don't even deserve to exist in their present form as far as I'm concerned. There is such a thing as a business getting too big in my view. When huge businesses are allowed to 1) exist and 2) be the boss of the economy, we all lose by having less competition and thus greater vulnerability to price hikes and costs. This is why I believe in heavy market control. It's time to enact some control over these firms. The fact they have been allowed to totally run rampant over the better part of the last 150 years and the last 60 in particular just amazes me. We either use the State to limit big business and control the market, or they keep running the show and leaving more and more families behind. Its happening across every industry. That, coupled with depressed wages and lack of meaningful public assistance, is why poverty exists as far as I'm concerned. Wow those letters are really gonna help. I guess you could say it's a good first step but much more is needed. Now if I was in a position to do something, big corps wouldn't exist above a certain size, say 5000 persons, and all larger companies would know REAL fast what would happen if they became too greedy. I'd give them on warning and then they would be shut down until they fixed the problem. Some profit is necessary and fine, nobody is saying otherwise, but there has to be a limit. Otherwise product quality goes down, customers lose out, prices start going up unreasonably and so on. Unlimited greed is root cause of all the world's problems in my belief. Hate is a problem too, but I believe all the world's poverty and instability both now and at any time in history can easily be traced back to the unchecked greed of either a ruler or their proxies, the landowning class, or a modern corporation, starting with the British East India company in the 1600s.

Yes in some ways I think it should, but that doesn't mean I disagree with the concept of taxes entirely. We have to pay for public goods somehow. However I certainly agree the bulk of the responsibility should be taken off the average consumer and put on the backs of big business where it belongs. Also the federal government could finance much more than it currently does. More on that later. Lol corpos (corporations) are not your friend. They could give an F about you. They definitely need to be controlled bigly and I don't know why you're out here trying to defend them. They're pretty worthless things and certainly wouldn't do anything for you. I don't care what stupid Fox News watchers think I know what's right. When you live in a society there are a few things you have to do for the good of everyone. not many but a few. This includes ensuring the private sector is sufficiently regulated so corpos don't run roughshod over everyone else the way they do now. Maybe you're unclear as to what my actual intentions are.   6.  @maximemeis2867    I'm all for personal liberty its very important to me but when it comes to economic matters we have to do a few things differently. If we don't start limiting the behavior of big business workers, consumers and the planet are going to continue to get screwed. Maybe you like that but I don't. I'm sorry if you don't like taxes, I think our tax policy should change in some ways, however taxes exist now so if you think that all taxes should be voluntary you need to take that up with your representatives. Taxes should definitely NOT be mandatory on corpos and the govt should take an iron fist to all big biz and if you don't see why that's necessary then you're way behind.

  7. Hard market controls will do it. You simply have to force laws against certain excessive business behavior. Price controls, market share limits, full Labor laws, markup limits, anti-waste laws, all very typical under actual Leftism and Marxism and sensible. It's big business regulation. It's nothing new. Controlling the business sector by law. WHAT A CONCEPT. Yeah it's not a new one. Been around since the 1850s, its just not usually done in the US bec the big money has always bought off the already privileged people who make up the political class. Been around forever just never employed properly in the US for obvious reasons. Expecting businesses to regulate themselves is a fool's errand and nonsense on its face. Their desire for constantly expanding high profits will immediately preclude any willingness they might have to abide by more ethical business practices. Either the State controls big business, or Big Business controls the State. There's not really much middle ground. Three guesses where we are right now.
