Wow that's terrible! I didn't know it was like that. I knew residency was a demanding time but I didn't know it was that bad. Student loans for doctors should be frozen during residency, and residents should get paid a fair wage. I'm sorry to hear it's this bad. And you certainly don't deserve to be disrespected by other doctors or nurses.

@youtubesucks1499 well that's your view. Other people aren't so obsessed with money and as long as they make them comfortable income where they can achieve a respectable standard of living they're happy. Not everybody is dictated by greed. Besides I don't see why doctors and trained nurses and whoever else can't make a very good salary within a public system. It's not so black and white. There's room for educated and skilled public employees to make a very good salary, it happens right now in a lot of places.

@youtubesucks1499 As long as any function is not performed with the desire to exploit it for outrageous profit, I don't see why it can't work well, no matter the specific industry. I'm not against the private market if it's well-regulated. People who love money can go there. I don't love money. I don't really care about it. I like some things and all that but that's about it. Greed is not anything we should be basing an economy around. If I can ever make 80-90K a year I'll consider myself extremely fortunate. What more is really necessary? Large estates are beautiful but those should be reserved for the very very few. Those shouldn't be everyone's goal, and it's definitely not mine. All I want is a decent house on one acre of land and I'll be happy. I believe in strong public guarantees and strict caps on personal wealth and corporate expansion. In the public sphere, we should have a strong universal healthcare system to include mental health care support and substance rehab, subsidized public transit, a public child Care network, subsidized higher public education, stronger K to 12 schools, a large supply of social and subsidized housing for those who need them, and social outreach workers for the sick, the elderly, or those who just need extra support. By generously taxing the corporate sector and the top 10% of incomes and increasing Federal allotments to all 50 states based on need, this can easily be accomplished.

@shakenbacon-vm4eu yeah no doubt. What you think it's going to take to change the current system? Is it just getting residents better pay and having laws against an exploitive work schedule? Do you think there should be changes in the labor laws to reflect this?

@iyeetpaste3797 that's a pretty good wage. Seems a lot of education to waste tho. I didn't know residency was this bad and they should get treated a lot better and paid a lot better but at the end of it I guess, doctors can start making more.

@youtubesucks1499 Medicine should never be a business, that is utterly wrong and backwards. Few causes are more noble than healing the sick and treating illnesses. That should NEVER be ruthlessly profitized for the morally-bankrupt gain of a few. Only a coast to coast socialized universal healthcare system free at point of service will serve all the needs of the people regardless of their ability to pay. Only elective cosmetic procedures should be done on a for-profit basis. Every other type of necessary care should be considered covered, and all residents should be treated humanly and paid fairly. They should always keep an adequate number of nurses as well as doctors on hand. I don't care about private special boutique little health clinics, but as far as general medicine, yes. Public healthcare is an absolute necessity for any civilized nation, we should have had it 100 years ago when Teddy Roosevelt first seriously proposed it. Just like we have public K-12 education in this country and a public postal system, we need universal healthcare now!
