Do people not understand yet that if we put basic social needs ahead of corporate profit, there would be no poverty? That the only reason poverty and worldwide instability exists is because we live in a mega-corporate dictatorship?? All material needs are easily satisfied when human value is considered intrinsically worthwhile and basic needs are considered more important than extreme private corporate profit. But not when we live in a robber baron society, where the robber barons get to make the rules and do anything they please.

@sanniepstein4835 except they're not. What is your objection? I'm pretty reasonable, I support a managed private market, with key universal material guarantees, otherwise called a public sector. I am a commie, and I do oppose most big business, I believe we need limits on business size and private wealth, but I don't oppose all business. I wish to encourage small and regional businesses. I certainly support Labor power and full Labor rights for all, that's pretty key. I think that's very rational.

@americaneden3090 I agree sometimes people make poor decisions, certainly we're all human and sometimes people make poor choices or take on poor habits I don't deny that. But I'm looking at the structural problems in the system. I see brutal and relentless corporate dictatorship and a denial of inherent human worth under this system. I also see mass incarceration, along with mass theft-by-govt, both civil rights and social justice issues. I don't know how much we'll be able to change in our lifetime- maybe not much, but it's worth discussing and trying to come up with a strategy around.

In other words - Good jib So we have several options. For those ready to take action the next step is to politically organize for change, come up with a hard Left platform (I already have and can share later), join currently existing Left parties such as PSL, seek further outreach with other outsider political parties such as libertarians, try to get more exposure and more widespread support for our values, try to get Leftists into office at the county level and state and ultimately try to get the laws changed. Also, we need to be pushing for more public oversight of the political process meaning push for expansion of ballot initiatives and demand for much more frequent public referendums on new and existing laws. Finally - Maximize and exploit the courts. Sue and challenge all laws we disagree with. Expect to have long drawn-out fights over this. Be willing to be in it for the long haul. Try to get more exposure for Left issues and independent Left media. Can try to take back some of the AM radio dial. Can try to buy a Lefty/PeopleFirst/Anti-Imperialist NewsHour on the one of the cheaper broadcast networks like CW. We got some options

@LRRPFco52 I welcome all your information. For the record I'm super based and rad... just... it's true everyone says so. (It's true.. you can ask anyone), which means I'm certainly going to consider all legitimate information I come across. I'm not denying that there's some truth in what you're saying. There may well have been problems under the previous SU system. That doesn't mean there weren't positive advancements as well. I'm not here to tell you that the old SU was perfect because I'm sure it wasn't. I challenge anyone to show me any government or any nation or any region that did everything perfectly. I could b**ch all day about the us right now. I could b***ch all day about the local gangsters aka govt personnel that I've run into in my time. I have many fairly anti-statist feelings, but I also try to keep those in perspective and recognize when an organized public entity does something positive. All I know is, based on my current knowledge which is always expanding, I find a great deal that happened in the SU since 1917 to be commendable. However I'm not blind- if something was wrong or bad or tragic, I'm more than capable of acknowledging that. Today's discussion can't change what happened before our time all we can do is try to improve on past events and seek a better future going forward. Don't you think socialist principles based on a cooperative global world seeking a common good for all is a good idea? In idealized terms wouldn't you like to see a "Hippie Earth"? That's just a colloquialism I don't mean that literally, I hope you get my gist. Perfection isn't possible, but certainly evolution is don't you think so?

Do you want more things guaranteed to you like healthcare and access to higher education or do you want to have to be reamed in the back door for them?? Hmm... Seems like I'm offering and demanding very good things, which you seem not to appreciate. Can you tell me why?

@LRRPFco52 The one child policy had issues but it was understandable at the time, and it's no longer in practice. I'm not sure when it was repealed but I think it's been over for at least 10 years now. In a nation with over 1 billion people it's understandable they would try to limit reproduction. It is unfortunate mistakes happen but life is nothing but trial and error, and hopefully learning from past mistakes. This goes for individuals, families, companies, organizations, local groups, or nations. All we can do is try to do better than the past. Well I guess we won't be seeing eye to eye today. I can see that your mind is made up. I'm very sorry for whatever your family members went through at the time, but just because there were problems under the old USSR, that doesn't mean that a people-first government is not what we want. Yes, we either run society as best we can for the common good or we let giant multinational corporations set the agenda. There's not much middle ground. Your choice. And remember- both political parties take money from these people and ruthlessly and shamelessly serve them. So don't believe for one second your local GOP thug or your local Democrat POS that they care about you or want to bring rents down. Look at their balance sheet. Look who they take money from. It's ALL a red-blue uniparty grift. And if we want better, we're going to have to build it for ourselves.

I think the Soviet Union did many wonderful things and I respect that way of thinking. What else needs to be said? I'm a proud Leftist... You have the right to see the world your way and I have the right to see it mine. We could debate ad nauseam but why? If you're convinced that there's something wrong with my values of the common good, not sure what would change by debating.

@LRRPFco52 well I just don't believe that's true at all. You are believing a lot of silly liberal and neoliberal faux talking points and propaganda. You don't have to believe every word or even accept his conclusions but you may find it interesting to consider alternative perspectives.
