  3. I've said this before - dogs should NEVER be used in any police work. It shouldn't be legal. It's incredibly brutal and inhumane and it satisfies the most sadistic psychopathic impulses of the handler. Using a dog on a suspect should be considered a FELONY crime. And it's even cruel to the dog because what you think a suspect is going to do when he's being attacked? Of course he's going to fight back and if he has a gun is going to shoot that dog and in that moment, can you really blame him? No we cannot. So an innocent dog is put in harm's way because officers are lazy evil bastards bursting with hate who just can't wait to hurt someone. If a cop can't take someone down with a taser or the least amount of force possible then that's too damn bad guess they can just try another day. Using a dog should be a nonstarter. I'm surprised animal rights groups haven't tried to fight this all the way to their state's supreme courts. This violates human rights on every level and it violates the animal's right not to be intentionally exposed to danger. Geez we really lead the world in barbarity don't we???

Why would anyone be able to sleep at night after arresting somebody that they never met, that has never done them any harm, and that wasn't presenting any harm to anybody else? They weren't a suspect in a murder or rape case- maybe they were just found with drugs while going about their business, or they had a minor bench warrant for a nonsense citation such as shoplifting or some other unnecessary bullshit?? In order to move up in the cop world you have to be a sociopath because you have to be perfectly happy harming to people you've never met and who have never done you harm and are not a harm to anyone else or a suspect a legitimate crime. Cops are sociopaths because they participate in the "roadside racket" which is responsible for the larcenous seizure and grand theft of collectively, millions and billions of dollars of assets from travelers and local citizens every year. That, plus tickets, which are just theft and extortion, add to the loot. PD's are nothing but organized crime schemes. The very best thing any local leader can do to protect their community is to shut these filth down. They can maintain a small supply of 911 responders and some detectives under a different umbrella.

Just last year the LAPD responded to a report of a minor incident in a department store with a slightly agitated patron, a blue thug showed up and shot him for no reason, and then also accidentally killed a young girl because he shot into a busy store not looking where he was shooting and the bullet unintentionally went into a nearby dressing room where the girl was changing. I think the family is currently suing the department. But even if they win, and I'm sure they will that's not going to bring their daughter back. This kind of gross negligence is common with these psychos. I'm sure that cop hasn't even been so much as reprimanded much less charged with negligent homicide or gross irresponsibility with a weapon. It is the LAPD after all, one of this country's most violent publicly-funded gangs. I'm sure occasionally cops take down a shooter but I've also heard too many disturbing reports of where they literally just won't act. They literally will stand around and doing nothing while people die. They will refuse to do their job and they will never pay a price for it. The one time we need them to LEAP into action and supposedly use their training to stop a dangerous deranged killer, they do nothing. These people don't care if we live or die, they are textbooks sociopaths. Look up the 77 minutes case and by now I'm sure you've heard of the crime against the community that happened in Uvalde last year??? There was a teenaged shooter who was holed up in a classroom shooting kids and for almost eighty minutes almost 400,yes you heard me right that's 400 badge thugs refused to move a muscle to step in. They did absolutely nothing and not a single one of them feel guilty about it. More kids died because they stood around and did absolutely nothing for over an hour. There was 376, yes this can be verified easily, 376 human fking beings who were armed and had law enforcement and public safety training on scene that day! Also there was a similar incident at a McDonald's near the Mexican border in San Diego in 1980. Now maybe these are just isolated incidents, I would like to believe that, but the fact they can happen at all tells us something. It tells us that we CANNOT trust these pieces of shit who claim they care about us in any way, shape, or form. They exist to steal from us, exploit us and run right over us if they perceive doing so as being some kind of a benefit or career boost. There are no good people behind the badge in the US, I wish there was and good luck finding them I hope you can, because to this day I have never seen nor heard of them. I wish it was different but I don't have the luxury of hiding from the truth. As far as I'm concerned they're all a bunch of opportunistic jerks, violent thugs, or trigger-happy nutjobs. Edit: if there are good ones then I will recognize that but I don't hear any good stories I only hear bad stories. Not to mention my own limited experience with these people, mainly small-time types but they were still assholes who caused me problems for no other reason than because they could. It's all very pointless.

I was a semi-sheltered white kid at the time and I had just started to get into different kinds of music and I remember thinking "WOW what is THIS??" and from there it was a wrap. I was all over r&b, rap and soul music from there for the next 5-10 years. I had started two years earlier with the Beatles and classic rock, pop and some alternative but after this I was ready to go in a whole new direction. Mostly the more common stuff is what I focused on but I explored some of the more obscure names as well. Music can really be a window into the world sometimes.

What if I told you 95% of the people currently locked up in this country shouldn't be. Maybe it's 90% but I guarantee it's a very high number. If an inmate chooses to work that's fine he should have that opportunity but he should not be exploited as a slave laborer.

  14. I was too! I was totally expecting that .. like I was steeling myself for the news. I was so certain that's what was coming. I guess it's better he "only" had to lose ten full years of his life for something that was admittedly wrong, but something that the victim no doubt was able to recover from in a relatively short period of time and move on with their life. What I don't understand is how they sentenced him as an adult when he was 17. Guess the DA and the judge collaborated together as they always do to make sure the poor black kid got absolutely no leniency FOR A FIRST OFFENSE AS A YOUTH. You gotta love the sadists and racists who control the courts.

I believe it's never too late to help someone and for someone to heal. Keep reaching out to your brother, it's never too late. I believe anyone can heal if they receive the right care. Don't give up. Very rarely are people a lost cause. So long as you care for him I'm sure change can happen.

  26.  @timtheskeptic1147  actually that was just changed. But it should have never been the case. It is now legal in California for previously incarcerated persons to become firefighters. Nobody should be denied a job based on their past incarceration history, with one possible exception being those convicted of a genuine sex crime, and in those cases I would say only if that job puts them in contact with vulnerable populations. Of course people have the right to be safe but in most cases nobody's past incarceration history should be used against them. Everybody has the right to make a living.

Punishment should be tailored to the crime, and all mitigating factors and circumstances should be fully considered before any sentence given that's called Justice- something I don't think you know much about. Simply abusing and brutalizing someone is a surefire way to get them to come out damaged and to go on to commit more offenses. So it doesn't even make sense from a selfish point of view now does it? We are not saying don't protect victims- victims always deserved first and foremost to be protected that is number one. But once we've done that, we owe it to our fellow human beings to try to get to the root cause of their behavior and to give them every opportunity to make a different choice.

No I don't believe the punishment fits the crime in most cases and I believe our courts are kangaroo courts and I believe it's all trash and dysfunctional from too to bottom because this has been my first or closely-observed secondhand experience. I wish I could have a more optimistic opinion of our courts and legal system but I have too much knowledge and/or experience to do so.

You don't think that people should be given humane treatment and support when they're behind bars. I think first of all a large majority people shouldn't even be sent to prison in this country but let's say they are there fairly- they should certainly be given opportunities to reform or at least come to terms with what they did. Maybe not every single person can be changed into an upstanding citizen but I believe most people can be helped.

I prefer to believe the first but OP seems to think that the cop was treating him in a hostile manner. I can't imagine what its like to go through what you've been thru but whatever happened, I'm sure your friends would want you to embrace life with both hands now.   42. I have. I mean most males are good in my experience. Yes ofc predators exist, but they're the minority. I've never had a problem with the opposite gender as a cis woman. But I understand where you're coming from. I am constantly shocked abd revolted that we allow vicious dogs to be used in police interactions, that should be patently illegal. I hope one day to join a group that pushes to ban thathet use of all dogs or other animals with police. It's not just inhumane to the suspect, it's also cruel to the dog. What do you think of suspect is going to do if they're being attacked? They are going to fight back and possibly shoot back. It's utterly inhumane to send an unknowing unthinking animal into a possibly dangerous situation and it's of course inhumane to the person being attacked. It's just disgusting all around and I cannot believe that this happens here, but I should believe it because we lead the world in barbarity. I'm sure you never deserved those four years behind bars and I'm really very sorry. We live in a deeply evil country that brutalizes people for no reason at all.   47.  @diyadreams  calm down. Most jobs in the military are not front lines, they are technical or administrative or support, very few go to the front, and we know the MIC is bad, we know that now. None of us know that when we're 19 and we're signing up. And like they said poverty can often be a draft. It wasn't so much with me, I thought I would be good way to get useful training in money for college, but it is for many. You can't blame a poor young person who's looking for a way to get material support if they can't find it anywhere else. The problem that affects all of us now is the Police State that exists right now in almost every zip code in the country. That's what we need to focus on and I list my solution below.

Liberal viewpoints are for generally decent people who are generally kind but have lived a privileged existence. Their comfort and privilege insulates them from seeing the current abuses that transpire everyday to workers, and to the lesser privileged members of society. They also can't see what's fundamentally wrong with the two mainstream political parties (who are really one giant party behind the scenes). I do think we're at a point where we completely overprescribed psychiatric medications and I think it's really concerning. There's definitely a place for those especially in some extreme situations where a person may harm themselves, but in addition to that, or in place of that, intensive one-to-one therapy is just as crucial if not more so.
