@therabbithat yeah... It's really sad. People try to rationalize the abuse they went through and sometimes this leads to them continuing the cycle. It can be hard to break those cycles if you've told yourself what happened wasn't that bad and it even helped you by making you strong.

@murceg0electrico man I remember when the Fugees started to hit. I was a semi-sheltered white kid at the time and I had just started to get into different kinds of music and I remember thinking "WOW what is THIS??" and from there it was a wrap. I was all over r&b, rap and soul music from there for the next 5-10 years. I had started two years earlier with the Beatles and classic rock, pop and some alternative but after this I was ready to go in a whole new direction. Mostly the more common stuff is what I focused on but I explored some of the more obscure names as well. Music can really be a window into the world sometimes.

Duuude. Where is she today?? She was way up there for a while. I remember Erykah Badu very well. I remember watching her on MTV and going out to get her CD. I'd love to find up what she's up to now, if she still performs or not.

@cv8499 exactly! That's a perfect point. These attitudes may "work" per se... but at what cost???

@jaccl4539 I'd say yes depending on what they are. LH might have been irresponsible or selfish, maybe immature, but that just means she needs to work on herself not that she's a bad person overall. If someone did something clearly over the line, no matter who they were, I wouldn't be able to enjoy their music anymore. For me there's a line between character flaws and severely unacceptable behavior.

@augustaseptemberova5664 that's a really good analysis. Would it be too simple to say it boils down to an authoritarian paradigm basically being based on fear of punishment and upsetting the parents, and authoritative being founded on respect and trust?

One of mine too. I was 18 when it came out and every track just blew my mind.

@doggytheanarchist7876 i just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear this. It's never ok when one's parents refuse to admit their mistakes. Maybe they're narcissists or maybe they just don't have the personal tools to be loving and open with you, the way they should be, and it that's the case that's truly sad. I got problems with mine too. Some people never learn how to grow and get past their previous limitations. I do hope something changes for you but even if it doesn't, I know damn well you won't do the same with your kids. You'll know how to show love to all or any of your future kids should you have them, and you'll never let them feel that ANYTHING was their fault, because your heart is better than that.

@riledmouse4677 this is really deep and huge of you to say. Thanks so much for sharing.

@lowlowseesee I'm really sorry you went thru that. I'm sure wherever he is he's at peace now and I believe you'll see him again. I'm not especially religious but I believe there IS peace and love on the other side.

@sub-negrodacryomancer7372 what tf are you taking about? If you're just here to hate move on. Ain't nobody got time for that shit here.

@rae8361 well it's that the record companies just want to exploit their artists to death. It's sad. That shouldn't be the case. I wish there was a way to prevent that.

I really really do miss those Unplugged concerts. I used to watch as many as I could.

@THEREALSOURCE it's because miserable fetus-level immature shit-personality incels are sadly evergreen and now with the internet they have the toxic platform they've always wanted.

@BRLambert4 tell me about it LOL. It not even worth wasting your time on those people and if you get caught up you'll be there for hours and while it feels good to tell them off, it really just sucks up your time and energy to no real end. Those toxic losers will still be toxic losers, at least online, after you leave. Lol I had to learn that the hard way after years of intentionally engaging people that were way too infantile and way too far below me in character and maturity to be worth it.
