@covertpuppytwo3857 first of all, I mostly hate the Taliban so I certainly wouldn't mind if they were all disappeared at tomorrow, but they ARE from the region and we DID invade their country and they have every right to strike back at people they see as an enemy invading force. The Taliban just want to control Afghanistan they could give a fuck less about anything else in the universe. When we interrupted that of course they saw us as the enemy and rightly so. Not that I agree in any way with their silly ideology, but if I was in their shoes I would have done the same thing.
So on to the next thing in your comment then.
How exactly is this our money? Was there a 9B gift to Afghanistan directly from some billionaire's hands or from the hands of our government at some point in the past? This was money that from my understanding had been placed into the repository by the previous Afghan government. So even though it's unfortunate that the Taliban took over, which by the way I want you to understand something- the CIA literally helped the Taliban take back over from 2019-2021, thats our media really isn't covering- but just because the government has now changed hands into the "wrong" people that doesn't mean that the entire country deserves to be robbed of the money it needs to survive. The rest of the people are not responsible and have no control over what the Taliban do. There were groups that tried to fight off the Taliban's advance but in the end they lost. At least for the time being. Now everybody just has to find a way to survive and what our government is doing is super illegal and just inhumane. If our government wants to pressure the Taliban to do something or to abdicate they can do so. But removing one of the main means of survival from 20 to 40M people is evil. Those people do not control the Taliban and they do NOT deserve to suffer for what the Taliban choose to do. It would be like if you had a family member say an uncle who swindled somebody or did something wrong, and the person they defrauded decided to come after your whole family and burn your house down or send goons to beat up on everyone in your family. That would be criminal and wrong. That person would be morally and legally obligated to take their grievance up with your uncle, not go after you or your family which are innocent bystanders. Attacking anyone else connected to him might make the attacker feel better but is an immoral act. You are not responsible for what your uncle does and you should not have to pay for his wrongs or misdeeds. Likewise, if our government wants something from the Taliban then they should have handled that before the Taliban took over. Or maybe we should still have troops there which would have prevented the Taliban from completing their takeover anyways. I'm not saying we ever should have been there to start with, but at least we kept the Taliban at bay in some regions and that's a good thing.
Considering last year Biden ran at full speed to rush this evacuation to where we literally left Afghans behind who worked with us to be at risk of attack from the Taliban, where does he get off making demands now? Nobody made him complete the troop withdrawal that's something he and his administration decided to do themselves. Why did they comply with a troop drawdown if they had something to say about the Taliban taking power? As much as I hate Joe Biden, at the time he was the commander-in-chief. Every president is. He could have said "we're not going to finish this draw down right now". We're going to leave some troops behind; we're going to do this, we're going to do that. He didn't do any of that. he chose to rush full speed into the worst planned and conducted military evacuation I've ever seen. By what rights does our government now say to the Taliban "no you're going to do x y and z" when we turned around and left knowing that they would move in the moment we were gone? What I'm saying is if Joe Biden care that much about it, we wouldn't have evacuated every last servicemember last year. We would have kept things as they were and maintained a small troop presence which would have at least been more stable than the old government fleeing and panic setting in and all of the instability that's there now. And to add insult to injury now they're literally in a sense just robbing the country of its means of survival, which is this money. They can't just go back to a barter system; even in Afghanistan there's a money economy. They need this money, and regardless of whether our government thinks it has a justified reason or not to hold on to this money, (and they don't it's basically massive theft at this point) this is causing huge suffering to ordinary Afghans and therefore that money should be released immediately. Ordinary Afghans don't deserve to suffer and die because our government has a beef with the Taliban. And besides, our government's allegiance is not based on morals but convenience. In the late '80s and early '90s they was more than happy to link up with the mujahideen of the day (original Taliban) to try to expel the current Soviet-backed government. Now since 2001 the Taliban is our enemy? Taliban doesn't give a fuck about the United States. They were even more than happy to give us Bin Laden in late 2001 but Bush refused because he wanted an excuse to send military into the region. We invaded Afghanistan because it had a strategic location for military operations in the middle east. It was the wrong thing to do even though one benefit was that we pushed the Taliban out of power in most places which allowed that society to move forward again. Now they're back in power, thanks to US, again- and Biden STILL can't stop murdering these people and tormenting them and making their lives wretched. Hes not alone though, every previous president since 2000 has done their part to treat every Afghan life in the region like it was expendable and of little value.

I live in this US. What my govt is doing in inhumane and without any moral justification. These are innocent civilians- they have a right to survive and not starve to death!!! They CANNOT control the Taliban. Torturing an entire region for the behavior of it's crazy leaders is evil and wrong! This is literal THEFT of Afghanistan's money by those who control the world bank and IMF- my govt. Absolutely inexcusable and vile. My govt knows damn will the Taliban aren't going to be anything other than who they are- and starving the whole country, besides being evil, isn't going to make them change. They are in a CULT. They have never thought or functioned any other way than the way they're doing right now. If my govt didn't want the Talibs to have power than maybe, just temporarily, they shouldn't have continued the evacuation of the entire fucing country!!! We saw the Taliban making a play to take over- we could have stopped it, but we didn't. Ok fine- but then we don't get to bankrupt the entire nation as if it's THEIR fault the Talibs took over again and therefore THEY deserve to starve! Appalling, isn't it?
My govt has zero excuse or moral justification for criminally withholding this money. It's not theirs- it never was. And when we evacuated that country we gave up any rights or interest to determine what happens there or to access it's belongings, including its financial resources. We didn't have a right to be there to begin with, but at least we did keep the Taliban at bay for a time. Probably the only decent thing we did while being there.
I don't know what's going to make my government stop doing what they're doing right now their conscience won't, because they have none. Western Europe won't because they just do whatever this gov tells them. Russia won't because it's otherwise involved. China is currently dealing with some internal issues and its own dispute with my gov right now. I don't know what's going to make the monsters who call the shots in my government release this money but I pray it is soon. Children and babies will start dying soon if they haven't already, then the old people, then the younger previously-healthy people.
I hate my federal government and I'm proud to do so. I'll be speaking out against them for the rest of my life. They're a criminal regime in my eyes and they need to be brought down before they cause even more mass destruction with WW3- which as of right now I have no doubt they will eventually achieve.
