A Life After Layoff

Comments by "Ficus-lovin\x27 Capybara N\x27 pals • 🌟 • 25 yrs ago" (@YourCapybaraAmigo_17yrsago) on "Tech Worker Records Her "Termination" and Goes Viral. Here's Where It Went Wrong." video.
@ivermectin1974 the CEO only said that to make it look like the firing was more justified. That's what they do. Why don't you care about employees? The bottom line is the company was wrong and workers deserve dignity, a legitimate reason for every firing or layoff, and severance for every layoff or requested resignation. Rules can change. I'm sorry that you don't think workers deserve better. Everyone deserves better. Everyone deserves a fair deal. Why do you feel threatened by the idea that workers should actually have rights and not just be glorified property? It's called labor law, something that doesn't hardly exist in this country, which is pretty shameful. It's time to change that.

@silvermediastudio employers have rights, and they'll be fine. Now it's time to protect workers. I guess you were born rich. I'm sorry you don't value people who work for a living.

@bradmiles1984 it may be or it could be that just for the last month or she had a decrease or a dry spell in her sales. It's possible that for most of the length of her employment her performance has been strong but obviously we don't know the details of her specific situation.

Is it possible on this planet for employers NOT to be sociopaths? What does anyone else think??? I don't even know anymore. It should be a top-level felony for employers to try to cheat you out of your deserved unemployment insurance. They should have to compensate you to five times what the original level would have been if found guilty. Thirty years ago my father was wrongfully terminated after over ten years of fine performance from a Southern California city. He was a civil worker. Unfortunately he didn't fight it but he should have. They were able to mess with his unemployment insurance and that really affected our family. He also got a possibly gotten his job reinstated. It was a rotten sociopath who just didn't like him and was able to get rid of him. Of course I'm just going off what I was told, I wasn't there when it happened. Without knowing any other specifics, I have to assume what I was told was true. I don't know if there's any provision in the law to get an exception to the statute of limitations and to try to fight these things decades later and get some long overdue. Not being allowed to finish up his 20 years there are also affected his retirement. This city cheated my father and our family out of a lot. I do hope one day there's a way to try to rectify this and I'm currently researching any possible method to do so. All I have to say to everyone is just to fight your termination if you oppose it in any way. Maybe you won't get your justice but at least you tried. Fight fight fight.... just go down fighting. You might not be able to always win but nobody can stop you from going down fighting, that's what I always say. Apparently 25% of the world are cold stone humanlike robot sociopaths. Try not to let them affect your life. If you come across one and they try to damage your life, just do your damnedest to fight back, that what I try to live by.

@luigivincenz3843 anybody can be fired, but if we organize and fight to change some laws people can have more protection against frivolous and/or malicious firings. I can think of a few provisions right off the bat that would protect all employees from unfair or capricious terminations.

@EdKrisiak Right, and that needs to change. Unfortunately all lawmakers take bribes from the wealthy big business class. 99.8% of government at all levels in this country is set up to protect big business profit and nothing else. Until that changes we're going to have an uphill battle. We just need better leftist and labor parties in this country. The red-blue machine is the corporate machine and naturally will never work for us. They love to talk to talk but they don't mean a word they say.

@bradmiles1984 yeah maybe. I don't know her particular situation. Performance does matter but sometimes people are accused of being bad performers when their performance was adequate or better. It all depends if someone's trying to get rid of you or not. If someone is out to get you who's above you and they are a nasty or unethical person, then they'll try anything. Not all firings are unfair, some are probably justified, but I do think a lot are probably not very fair if you were to look at the details.
