You can't set the minimum limit at $2000+ when a statistically significant portion of residents barely earns that in a month!!! Not every household has multiple income earners letting alone those on fixed income or benefits. All rent should be income-based outside of genuine elite properties (there are some that actually are). I set my limit at no more than 15 or 20% of a tenant's income up to a local set maximum. The legal maximum to the tenant will be whichever is lower. THIS IS HOW YOU GUARANTEE EVERYONE HAS A MOTHERFUKING HOME. Actual rental protections Actual homeowner protections Or maybe we can all just ve grist for the mill of wall street demons. I believe I partially agree with you but if you don't think we need iron fist hardcore rental regulations then you're not aware of the level of crisis out here. 20% is the absolute maximum any non-rich person should have to pay for indoor living. Also there should be hard ironclad local rental maximums with exceptions only for genuine elite builds meant for the high and very high income. We have the fox guarding the hen house while on steroids- regarding housing in the US. I don't care what you call it we need hardcore rent control rent limitation NOW. More renter protections and so on. I could list off a dozen useful and practical ones right now. There's still room for a reasonable profit- I doubt a private landlord or company would want to provide housing at a loss (or any end-use product), however this profit needs to be controlled. The immediate banning of any investment in any form of rental housing and most homes should take effect immediately. This gross practice pours gasoline on the fire and is morally unacceptable. Under strict regulations regarding homes I could see a few permissible cases. Rentals, outside of the genuine high-income luxury market, never (because this isn't a rich person's problem). NOT EVEN ONCE. So that's about that.

It's obvious Congress has been against the bottom 90% almost since forever, but we don't have to standby and allow the same gross thing to transpire in our own backyards. It's hard because we're all scrambling out here to survive but we NEED to unite! And we NEED to start bringing lawsuits! Marches and demonstrations don't really change much although it's good to galvanize the public and raise awareness. But they themselves won't change anything. Outside of voting, change happens in court. Outside of getting our asses in those elected positions, change happens in court. Getting together with other citizen groups and finding active engaged and conscious local law firms to take on our cases is the first step. Local and state governments will just keep on fucking us in the ass forever unless we do something. Perhaps it's time to stop electing psychopaths who would sell their kids into sex slavery for a sweet bribe from Big Business Lobby XYZ and START electing people-first individuals that have some ethics. These are called independents, communists, socialists or civil libertarians. I should know, I live in California. There have been small victories but they are basically a finger in the dyke. Newsom claims to want to help the homeless- I'll believe that when Trump eats a salad. He's vetoed several key pieces of moral legislation so come on.... He's owned by PG&E and the utility companies that are killing us out here. Enough already. We all know who owns the state and it ain't you and me. If we can't vote in the right people then at least we can use the courts to the absolute maximum until the day we die. Or we can run ourselves that's another option. But until then the court system is the only viable way. (Citizen-initiated ballot measures too. Very important.)
