  2.  @mckenzie.latham91  welp then I'm glad for all the "non-realists" who refuse to settle for just a little less shit on a stick from the system as some version of elite interests- approved neoliberal-tainted sad and flaccid hollowed out end goal. Our end goals must be much MUCH bigger and better than that. Regardless of how long it takes to achieve, the desired aim must be broad and demanded with militancy and absolutely NO APOLOGIES. All basic material needs covered by govt programs??? Check. More direct democracy at every level??? Check. A complete system of reparations and official apologies as part of an ongoing fundamental justice project for native peoples (and in our case, Black persons also)?? Check. Total reform of the immigration system?? Check. A complete reformation of the justice and prison system??? (Probably much more an issue here than there) CHECK. Empowering Labor and blunting large corporations' power??? Ending political banana republicanism and a literal open graft system at all levels (probably more a US issue)??? Check. It won't happen overnight I understand but that's why I'm looking farther down the line and then trying to ask myself what exactly do I need to do to bring that day closer? How can we get more far Leftists elected at local and state levels?? And so on. Our long-term vision must be bold and uncompromising. In the short-term I understand certain calculations and trade-offs have to be made, that's ok so long as we (people like me who identify as Socialists), keep the broader picture and our end goals firmly in sight.
