@Franklyn Cheatum I find it dangerous to start giving personhood status and guaranteed rights to the unborn because by definition that completely nullifies the rights of the child-bearing woman in question, and that is unacceptable to me. I don't consider the fetus to be worthy of any rights up until the last two months of pregnancy when it's in a reliably viable status. Previously the law said 3 months, my standard is two, but I could settle for three as long as it provided an exception for medical need, which they did. Of course now all that's out the window. 26 states are going to enact draconian near total or total abortion bands with ZERO exception for rape or incest or life of the mother. they claim they will always have an exception for life of the mother, But in practice that's not how it works. Some women will most certainly die a result of this. They know this, the lawmakers do, and they have no problem with it. So whose life are they really "pro"? So now women's lives are on the chopping block and at serious risk in a whole variety of ways. They've merely substituted women of childbearing age for the fetus or zygote in question. I think it's disgusting in every possible way. And I know I'll never ever EVER be changing my mind about that.

I imagine they were worried about having a strong enough base population to help the fledging state grow back then. especially considering a lot more children didn't make it to adulthood back then. So I could sort of see a semi-practical argument for it at the time. Those realities no longer exist. Outrageous that a law that's 170 years old now goes into effect out of this revolting violation of our basic human rights. It is sad that religious cultism has made it as far north as Wisconsin and nobody there is fighting back against it. At least in the legislature I mean. I can't imagine everybody up there is a brainwashed cultist or fundamentalist, is there any debate or anger at this going on up there right now?

Lifetime appointments are utter insanity. Maximum length of a term for any public office should be 10 years. Multiple terms can be considered, but 10 years per term should be the absolute max. Nothing more than this should be considered in a free and civilized society. Why don't we just bring back autocracy? Hell let's just dispense with that messy awkward time-consuming Congressional form of governance anyways. Let's just go straight to totalitarianism. Everyone gets lifetime appointments. you know, like the divine right of monarchs and all that good shit. Lifetime appointments might have made sense 250 years ago but they should have been struck from the Constitution a long time ago. Just like the electoral college, and honestly in my opinion, the Senate.

They're not 30 or 40. their minds and their maturity is still developing. so let's say they have an irresponsible sexual encounter. Does that mean they should have parenthood forced upon them or even an adoption choice??? I think you're very inhumane if you believe that. And I don't agree with it. That's not good for them and in a lot of cases that certainly not good for them baby that results of that. Now if they get pregnant and after long consideration they truly decide that they wish to make it change their life and have this baby, that's perfectly fine because that was their free world choice and it wasn't forced on them by a savage, brutal, and inhumane State entity. Nobody should be ever before to make a pregnancy choice that is not of their own full and free will. Nobody should ever value incomplete, non-functional and dependant biological tissue more than the woman in whose body it currently resides. There's nothing wrong with painless euthanasia AKA elective miscarriages AKA elective abortions within the first 6 to 7 months of pregnancy. Talk to any medical professional who has provided them. They will tell you the facts about the fetus, how it doesn't feel pain and how quick, safe and medically professional abortion services are humane to both the pregnant woman and the fetus. I bet you believe all those dangerous and unethical piles of lies and propaganda that the pro-life movement has been belching out for decades. Yeah that shit is utter nonsense. I understand most of the people on your side have IQs of five so you can't understand basic concepts or the complexities of this issue. You see the world through the eyes of a 5 year old so everything is in ultra black and white. I don't even believe in having a Supreme Court. I believe in deciding everything at the Congressional level. Yes they're full of psychopaths and sociopaths, but that's still better in most cases than nine unelected absolute totalitarians overruling the will of 250M people and setting dangerous precedents that could last for decades.

@EPgeek I've heard something like this. I'm sorry to hear it. I hope it changes soon. Anything other than direct numerically-proportional representation is corrupt. Even if that process sometimes puts my chosen party in the minority, I would still defend it because anything else is unethical as far as I'm concerned. Outside of some rare extreme cases I suppose, it seems that governance should be based on the will of the numerical majority. Since we know not everybody is going to agree on everything, the goal should be to try to meet the needs or the wishes of as many people as possible. You don't get this with anything other than direct proportional representation supplemented by frequent public referenda. If there's a better form of governance I'm all ears, but I fail to see what it could be.
