The last time I was visiting my Spetsnaz friend in the Ukraine this pistol came up in the discussion of Afghanistan to which he stated " the oversized Makarov automatic was completely useless without its stock and it's only real solid use was for dispatching dogs on the outsides of villages".

My guess is that after several years of seeing this fireplace what we are actually seeing is Ian's home/film studio where other folks with "Forgotten Weapons" have brought/sent them over to have their guns filmed. The exact details can only be revealed by Ian himself and as he has never been forthcoming in All these years I would not expect him to anytime soon.

I know the feeling quite well as one day I was helping a friend sight in his .22 at the local gun range which was mostly occupied with .22's and a couple of nines hearing your basic pops and plink plinks, when in come's an individual to the lane next to me chewing on a dog turd looking cigar and says my my all these little dinky .22's and nines hope they don't get jealous of my Kimber 1911 .45 and commences this with a couple of Bang Bangs at that point I stopped put down the .22 that I have been sighting in and take out my grandfather's Colt Python 357mag and cut loose of a couple of Kaboom, Kaboom's it was at this point the dog turd chewing a cigar afficientlyato Says "Dear Lord What is That?!?" I just simply reply its a Colt Python he says "Man that's one Hell of a Gun!!" packs up his gun and leaves the range!!! π€ ππππ
