@BenjaminWalburn It will not be free, the money to pay for this will not be created out of thin air, it will have to be pulled from some other budget and there will be a fight over it. It is about making choices like everything in politics. So there will be shifts. I was quite clear about the subsidy from poor to rich: EVERYONE will pay for it, collectively as a nation, but while being a "social measure" it won't be just the poor benefitting from it. With current subsidies, it is. You only get support for rent, child care, health care, whatever if you are relatively poor. That is targeted, assigning money where it is most needed. Not the case with UBI.
The labor market will be impacted. You state less people will be available because they already have money. Possibly. This depends on whether UBI will be enough to live comfortably or not. Some economic activity may just disappear because no one can be bothered to do it anymore. My point is that it won't be "everybody happy", it is not something to be introduced lightly and there will be a lot attached to it no matter what your idea or expectation may be.
You think you know this to be a left wing idea. It is not that obvious who will ultimately benefit though.
