  1. We? I assume you are talking about humans. That is actually the scary part to me. Not that AI will go rogue, but that it will get better and continue to do exactly what humans demand from it.

  2. No one is claiming AI will become life, you just made that up. It's called a strawman arument. Nor does anyone claim AI is thinking or sentient. We do have software that can learn. The idea is there will be machines that are given some goal and that they will come up with creative and unanticipated ways to achieve that goal. And that those ways may not align with our interests. This is not unthinkable and it does not require life-like intelligence.
