I am Dutch, I've seen Geert Wilders operate in parliament for over 20 years. It is bad enough that he won this big, he has some weird political fetishes, but I would not call him a fascist. He originates from the VVD, a moderate right wing party, in which he clashed with party leadership about his Islamophobia. So he started his own party, which is really just him. As a leftist, I say he is not your regular trumpian idiot. We have seen worse in Dutch politics. For an anti-immigration islamophobe who does not want to spend money to counter climate change he is actually quite sane and on social economic issues he could even be regarded moderately left wing. I am not worried he will kill democracy anytime soon. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what parties he will end up in a government with, if even that. It is still possible to form a government without him although that seems unlikely and not true to the outcome of the election.

It is not a win in the sense that he can now rule, it is a win in the sense of a big gain. A significant shift in the balance of power.

@danielkim7841 Islam was never an issue in Dutch politics, Wilders introduced that single handedly. Immigration was, but nobody cared what church you went to. Wilders is lslamophobic, he made an issue out of nothing.

He is compromised, deep in the pocket of a couple of z10ŋ 1st sponsors.
