You don't know your own history. That well regulated militia part is there as a safe guard against the government falling to authoritarianism, for the case it turns on it's own people. It does not mean "go ahead and carry guns everyone", it's more like having a stash in every village/county under lock and key so they can be picked up when the government violates the constitution. Like, say, a president destroying institutions or clinging to power by stealing an election.

Ideally, yes. But people get drunk, they take medication, they go mad, it happens, it's statistics. That's why you're #1 in gun related deaths, that's why your children get shot dead, either because they found daddy's gun and played with it or some crack head ex-pupil visited their school. That hardly happens anywhere else in the world, it happens more than once a day in your country. Risk=chance*effect. The chance may be small but with everyone having a gun in their pocket the effect will likely be deadly.

@hatchetwound666 There's nothing about arms in the 14th amendment. And a bunch of individuals running around with their private fire arms is not "A well regulated Militia".

Gun control works, Australia did it, it's effective, proven. No need to argue about it or quote selectively from the 2nd amendment, it saves lives alright, lots of them. Go play a video game to feed your poisoned mind.
