It could just mean a lot of the sane republicans turned their backs on the party entirely and stayed home this time. We'll see when the winner runs against a democrat.

@mrdamage690 With a high turnout this would indeed be bad news. It would be interesting to see those numbers, comparisons with earlier similar elections.

@mrdamage690 All very well. But turnout in 2020 was higher than usual. Trump got more votes than any republican before him across the board and still lost. Now, even if the vast majority of people who voted republican in 2020 will do so again because they don't care about democracy, free press, justice for all and more of that silly stuff, there will be some who are disappointed, who will see this for what it is. Only a small percentage will suffice. And I do not expect many democrats to jump ship under the circumstances. It may be wishful thinking on my part but considering this it seems likely republicans will lose. Those crazies will pull out the negative vote like you've never seen. All presuming the elections will be fair and all votes will be counted of course, which apparently is not a given any more. Either way, it is going to be interesting.
