Her background is fake. I believe i met her in 2002 or 2003 in Croydon, where she had been quickly installed as a senior manager in what was then the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (where I worked). However, there's no mention of the Home Office on her CV. At the time, she behaved in a sneaky and underhanded way. She gathered information to use against people within the organisation. I think it's her modus operandi - she has an intense hatred for a certain type of person (eloquent men who have an education). That's my opinion. OK, Johnson definitely had it coming. But the key here is that she's had decades of practice as an unelected backstabbing politician (that's all a bureaucrat is) and has been sharpening her knives for a long time. I suspect her ultimate motivation is subversion but that her immediate motivations are more personal and psychological. In my opinion, she's a deeply sinister character.

I'd say that's highly probable.

@1526andrews Yes. I think I had a run-in with her many years ago, during the Blair years. If so, then yes, she is definitely a psychopath.

CORRECT.

The problem with the eskimo is that he's the king of that environment and your survival is a matter that's at his mercy. So imagine you're in a spot of bother and you need the help of the eskimo. The eskimo saves you from starving to death, or from an aggressive polar bear. Now the eskimo call give you orders or threaten you with death. That's what happened with Sue Gray. She broke and bent rules throughout her career to deal with political opponents within the civil service (which has its own internal politics) on behalf of other people. She destroyed people as part of her job. It only makes sense to eat the eskimo.

I agree there's a problem but I don't like your solution. There are a million ways to sustain defunct and outmoded institutions at the cost of everything else. This is what we're seeing now.

She's been doing that for decades.

@WEourKNIGHTED Can you confirm whether she was installed as a senior manager at the Home Office (not the Cabinet Office) in 2002 or 2003? I had a run-in with her, I think. Definitely the face and the modus operandi were the same as hers.

Agreed that that's what will happen with Gray. However, Cummings was, initially, a believer. His plans went awry because he isn't as clever as he thinks he is. He's not stupid - he's quite smart. But not smart enough for that role. I warned him about his "weirdos" recruitment policy before he recruited Sabisky, and he ignored it. Cummings was smarter than an average civil servant but when above average people try to get too clever, they make serious mistakes. He's a follower of Tetlock and has a half-baked understanding of statistics and probability.
