you overestimate Koreans. They have been known to reuse leftover kimchi and even rice. this is well documented by Japanese news sources and in my own experience from a friend who works in a Korean shop.

Stores owned by Viets and Filipinos have also sold expired packaged foods. they are no different. China is worse especially with street food and 'fresh' foods.

I pondered this as well and it comes down to profit. It's still more expensive to use real meat vs cardboard meat.

What a liar. Malaysian mooncakes don't have a 1 year expiry date. At least not the ones I have bought there. At most 3 months, everyone knows this due to the hot humid weather. Food don't last long there unless preserved or canned.
