Comments by "David H" (@DavidHalko) on "AMD: How It All Began" video.
Sure, the wrong clip art may have been chosen for the video, cut the producer a break, and just identify the error with a little humility.

I hope when Part 2 occurs, that it is mentioned when Sun Microsystems released the first 64 bit AMD server platforms, along with their own SPARC 64 bit servers! Sun helped to make AMD a competitor in the 64 bit Server Market. Oracle, who purchased Sun, is now releasing AMD 64 bit CPU’s in their latest 2024 based engineered servers… while still selling SPARC 64 bit servers [whose chips are baked by TSMC.]

The tone of the comment doesn’t help with the credibility of the comment contents, by attacking the individual creating the video content. The comment comes off as being written by someone with an axe to grind, vs trying to bring something meaningful to the history & conversation.

He ended the video in the 1980’s, a lot happened since then! 😅 AMD’s x64 architecture was REALLY difficult on Intel, server company Sun Microsystems became a significant server vendor for AMD at that time… selling along side Sun’s own 64bit RISC SPARC processor servers! Sun’s Solaris was a 64 bit OS, for many years, before Linux & Windows & MacOS went 64 bit. Solaris on AMD x64 was an industry defining moment, while Intel locked 🔐 other vendors to 32 bit operating systems on x86 through incentives. Oracle owns Sun Microsystems today, Oracle still sells SPARC, although terminated ground breaking SPARC development end of 2017, and Oracle is now selling 64bit AMD based engineered systems! I hope there is an AMD Part 2 and a Sun Microsystems video, since Sun really helped AMD break into the 64 bit Server Space!

Robert Noyce realized that it was unnecessary to cut the silicon wafer into individual transistors, but merely connected different components on the same wafer by the deposition of a line of conductive metal (a “wire”), thus conceived the method for making an integrated circuit. Fairchild filed a patent application in 1959. So, the IC’s we conceived in the late 1950’s, started production in the 1960’s. It was not limited to the US during this time. Soviet VEF had a Semiconductor Fab in Rega Latvia. VEF’s fab started production in 1960. VEF’s fab stopped production in 1999.

I suspect he knew that, since each were correctly identified. I thought the same thing, but the clip art was correctly referenced, even if it was during the time of mentioning the other location. I bet the producer could not find an original image of the correct facility!

“awful” I think it is GREAT 👍🏼 They did something similar in my company, where a car was given away! ❤ “pig” The sin of coveting, related to greed, keeps people from being happy for others when they receive something wonderful! Perhaps you should look in the mirror. 🪞 “Capitalist” Being able to freely work (without coercion), earn money 💴, save money 💴, and freely (without coercion) able to purchase goods & services from someone else, is a wonderful thing! You should read “Capitalism and Freedom” by Milton Friedman, before you throw any more stones. After reading that selection of his essays, it has become clear to me that there is no freedom without capitalism.
