  2.  @20-Foot-Anaconda - “profits over everything else” Sorry, no one repeatedly plants a tree in the desert to stop desertification, just have them die… that is unprofitable for those dead trees. People plant trees on the edge of a desert, so they will flourish in an ongoing basis, once the people who planted them are long deceased… that is profitable for those flourishing trees. Life does not exist without profit.

  3. “There are far better ways to manage waste plastic” Like plastic island in the Pacific Ocean. If there was a better way to get rid of it, they would have found it. Right now, it poisons everything with microplastics.

  4. Carbon is the element of life, life does not exist without carbon, and it is a precious resource, not something that should be sequestered in a landfill. CCS is making the most beneficial decision - take an element that is naturally recyclable & place it in well defined holding areas so it can be used for future uses! Fuel is just one way of using sequestered carbon (creating fuel sequesters it again.) How about accelerating growth in adjacent greenhouses? How about 3D printed filaments? Making Graphene for high tech manufacturing uses? Carbon is NEVER better in a landfill.

  5. “Storing it in batteries” Batteries need to be recycled, and the only ones which are recycled well are lead acid batteries. Electricity into batteries is just creating a new recycling nightmare. They would most likely be lithium batteries. Lithium leached into water is linked with autism. We need to recycle all plastic somehow, as the plastics today are poisoning every living thing with microplastics. Fuel is a fine way to recycle some of this poison.

  6.  @Paul-yh8km - and a terrific fossil fuel it is! Honestly, plastics breaks down into CO2 & Methane over time in the ground, anyway… and all that energy is lost as it just vents into the atmosphere. Old plastics that do not break down turns into microplastics & poisons everything in the food chain, including us! We should absolutely recycle the plastics into fuel!
