@richardrigling4906 - I hear ya… usually, reuse of existing manufacturing processes is one of the highest priorities, when developing new chemistries. I guess we will all see!

Today, there are airplanes running half H2 & half jet fuel… I am waiting for the 100% H2 airplanes to be flying around

Engines are often used as a mechanism to stop projectiles in military equipment… at least in Israeli tanks, where survivability is of the utmost importance to their culture

Only if AI is running robotics for the assembly & testing phase Problem is, robotics is only really possible in mass production scenarios, where manufacturing is very well defined

4680 is just a size. Most likely, whatever solution is made for solid state batteries, manufacturing will use similar technology

Capacitors are challenging. You just can’t put them in series, like batteries, to increase voltage. Not saying your idea is bad, just challenging
1
Nope. They will need to heat the cabins with electricity from batteries, as well as the batteries [themselves]

@w8stral - the first planes are already flying with H2 running 1/2 the engines, while jet fuel runs the other half of the engines. H2 for air looks like a potential winner

This technology is too expensive

This stuff is challenging. No one is dragging their feet.

Electric catapults on aircraft carriers are used today. Maybe just use slightly less G’s, since ground runways are longer
1
As is being done with H2 fuel cell airplanes, where half the props run on H2 & half on jet fuel.

“Oil” companies own batteries & are shipping them for lawn maintenance & vehicles, even now. My lawn equipment is shipped by Shell Oil, today. They are not Oil Companies, they are Energy Companies. The only people who will be negatively impacted by moving to electricity will be lots of small companies & families in places like the US, where they get mineral rights for harvesting energy on their land. Batteries make the big guys richer, and the small guys poorer.

With people distributed over a large land area, mass transit by train is not that useful. Trains to move humans is 1800’s thinking, when people never moved much outside of their village and then trains facilitated village to village movement [of otherwise a static human civilization]
