It is not about being richer… it is about doing the right thing and having individuals compensate you for your efforts. When people compensate you for your efforts, you can take that compensation & do better things for humanity… instead of just bragging on being a billion dollar company.

6:40 - “lithium batteries are thrown into landfills or not recycled” Most are not recycled… upwards of 95%, from recent studies. I am glad to see this occurring, other recycling plants are showing up in Georgia, as well as Arizona. The big question is… how does one drop off an 80+ lb EV battery modules for recycling? People are using them for home energy project today. If there is no place to drop them off, they will wind up in landfills.

The glass & aluminum is easy to recycle, the hazardous waste is less easy to recycle.

The last study I read, about 95% wind up in landfills… these might make a dent in it, but the cost of transporting 80 lb car battery modules used in a homeowner’s do it yourself install is going to be outrageous. Having tried to recycle CD’s and DVD’s before - large battery recycling will be a nightmare.

@garysmith5025 - “solar panels… replaced” I bought 40 solar panels, that were about 7 years old, saving them from the land fill. Over half of the panels I manually sorted through under-produced electricity & were left behind… to be disposed of. I have seen whole solar panel farms turned over, buried in pits, and new housing put on top of them. Why don’t solar panels make it 25+ years? So many reasons… - value of land rises faster than the value of solar panels in producing energy (due to the horribly low energy density of panels) - high cost of deinstallation & reinstallation, so when roof work needs to be done, old panels in reasonable shape are disposed of with new panels installed - hail, destroying solar panels over incredibly large areas, in a single storm, then disposed of - fire, panels igniting, burning down a home, and the panels then being sent for disposal - electronics go bad on microinverters, and it is just easier to rip up the whole solar panel installation on a roof - rodents eating away at piping, roofing, wiring… under a roofing installation. Such experiences encourage people to deinstall, to repair the roof, and never bother installing again, leading to disposal

@desertodavid - I like my LJ98-10C779-AE modules, they are serving me well, but at some point each module will need to be recycled. Put 16 in an EV, and you get over 1000 lbs. EV car batteries often come in modules, so each module can be assembled, like legos, into different configurations…. From cars to crossovers to SUV’s, to get economies of scale in manufacturing, not tied to specific manufacturers.

@desertodavid - hey, I got the modules at 20 cents on the dollar, to make a battery backup system for my house. Technology is not bad, but people who try to mislead others are bad.

6:10 - “batteries I haven’t recycled yet?” Been doing that for years… but there is no facility for dropping off the 80lb EV batteries that people are buying second hand.

DavidH - “The last study I read, about 95% wind up in landfills… “ @davidmenasco5743 - “do you have a source…” It was a university paper that forwarded me to the study in the past, I don’t have it on hand, but you can Google this: “study percentage of lithium batteries recycled” DavidM - “what landfill… accept EV batteries” I knew someone who was buying & selling lithium batteries, he filled up garbage cans of lithium batteries, no complaints with the disposal. Lead acid are recycled, but not checked for in trash to verify they are recycled.

No 3D food 🍲 printing of pasta here 😉 “robot” Not sure who the robot is, if my tapping did not comply with your syntax processing requirements. 😉

@desertodavid - “what kind of capacity…?” Each 4p8s battery module is 8.5 KWh, 4x modules, total of 34 KWh capacity. House uses: 1. LED & Fluorescent Lights. 2. Natural gas Clothes Dryer, natural gas Stove, natural gas Central Heater, natural gas water heater. I could always move Natural Gas to propane. I think the government is trying to ban all the natural gas appliances to force people to be tied to the grid. Honestly, I may eventually produce H2. I would love to try to use H2 from my system to feed my own appliances via an H2 storage tank. I am a DIY guy.
