No longer a need to stay sober… a generation of completely wasted people

@ - someone is always going to have to pay car insurance… if you are paying for a ride, you are paying car insurance. If you are not speeding, you are going to lose some time in travel, so you can resolve speeding tickets today using cruise control with this caveat. Municipalities don’t hire enforcement to make a profit, they would be fired tomorrow if people would just do the right thing.

@raybod1775 - “paying these car costs per ride… dramatically cheaper” Ride share is more expensive than owning, for people who must travel to work every day. Cost in tax subsidies for mostly empty bus routes + fares is dramatically more expensive than owning. Rail is super expensive in tax subsidies + fares. Transportation costs are still needed to get from the aggregation points. Having volunteered with refugees and post-prison people trying to go straight for nearly 25 years, they had always found owning to be less expensive in the end. Maybe these human-free driving cheap cars will make the difference? Could be. Let’s hope.

@raybod1775 - “dramatically cheaper…” When people price Uber to go to work via taking a car each day, owning a car is definitely A LOT cheaper. The cost in taxes & energy wasted for buses running routes empty all the time is outrageous. The cost in taxes for rail is also outrageous & still requires people to have vehicles to get to the rail points in places where populations are spread out. Having done prison ministry work for post-incarcerated people for decades, owning is far cheaper than paying by the ride, over multiple generations of various transit options. People trying to go straight, by doing the right thing, figure this out pretty quickly. Lower cost mass transit options, like these small electric cabs, might make a difference, we will see!

@CounterSeal - “mass transit. Have you heard?” Yes! Busses & trains run largely empty, trains run largely empty outside business hours, with the exception of homeless drug addicts who reside in seats & sometimes attack you. If you try to defend yourself or others from assaults by the drug addict, then racist liberal prosecutors try to put you in prison for life. It has been all over the news right now, in New York City. This is not the only case, has been like this since I was a child. Yep! We know all about mass transit!

@daveinpublic - “company like Tesla paying for auto insurance” Large companies don’t pay for insurance, they often pay their own insurance… self-insured. (Insurance companies are merely hired to administer their pool of funds.) If massive companies would insure others, they are now the insurance company paying insurance companies to administer the funds — your price would become market rate.

On long trips for 2 persons, 4 is tight, 6 optimal… 3 each passenger: 1 coffee, 1 water, and it is nice to have a carbonated beverage with sugar & caffeine Perhaps if people are not driving, they would sleep, and fewer cup holders needed?
