Yes, or slower

I think Rosie was just making a comparison. People tend to fall into the either-or fallacy. Humanity needs every energy source possible!

That would likely just slow up the lower generator and take away from the maintenance benefits of the generator being closer to where it can be serviced.

Diverting large force 90% also loses energy, thus efficiently There may also be a new problem with stability, with the horizontal axis based wings being unbalanced & wanting to pull the tower down There is also a problem with the horizontal axis blades putting a lot of stress on one side of a bearing, creating greater wear on one side, causing early mechanical failure of the horizontal bearing. Now, maybe if 2 sets of equally blades, on each side on the shaft, attached to long spinning shaft, but now the costs of the blades are double, in order to likely just recovery the efficiency lost by turning the drive shaft 90 degrees downward. (Not even sure if this could change direction &!spin with wind direction change.)

I don’t think a flywheel is needed. They use MPPT charge controllers on Solar Panels, to charge batteries. The same solution can be applied here.

That was my very first question… could this kill fewer National Birds?

@lillyanneserrelio2187 - “ceiling fans” - never mind sticking fingers in them, throw a pen! (Used to be a game we played when I was a child, see who got hit!)
