How is Elon Musk deciding who lives or dies? If he really is, can we have a concrete example of a person living (or dying) due to something Musk did? This lefty whining annoys me. Musk didn't put anyone on the streets of 'Frisco. The drug trade does. Likewise for Gates - if you're going to accuse these billionaire philanthropists of "deciding who lives or dies" please back up the accusation with evidence. BTW: I don't think saving Picasso, saves more than one life (his). Saving the life of a doctor, or engineer instead is more likely to be "effective altruism". For me, effective altruism only becomes evil when people use it as an excuse to lie to us; perhaps to gaslight us into "doing good" for the world.

Now that there are so many politically orientated charities - many of them woke - it's getting harder to argue that giving to charity is better altruism than creating a new charitable foundations - as Gates seems to have done.

Rockefellers, Carnegies, and Nobels of this world have been doing it for over a century. Some of it is more social engineering than charity. A video of Rockefellers who've promoted green ideology and trying to control energy infrastructure would be fascinating.
