  1. I think Carl needs to spend time looking into how mass media terrifies kids. If people see no future - maybe that's the cumulative effect of climate & eco- apocalypse porn? Climate apocalypse porn is spread by mass media - not so much by keyboard activists on the Internet. Social media, in itself, isn't so bad - but groomers on social media gaslighting kids into thinking they are "in the wrong body" - that's bad. When I was a kid - long before the Internet - I was terrified by the prospect of nuclear war. In fact, now that I'm an adult and have studied the effect of ionizing radiation, I know that nuclear war was NEVER the existential threat to the human species that it was presented as. The existential threat nonsense was anti-nuclear propaganda spread by adults = including Uni lecturers - including ONE uni lecturer who taught me. So that's a case study in "depression" if you will.

  2. Lack of boundaries is "terrifying"? RUBBISH. This is the weakest aspect of Carl's thinking = rampant speculation consisting of word games. If teenagers are depressed, there are specific reasons for it - not wishy-washy speculative nonsense.
