@KrimsonStorm Proggies call themselves "progressive"; despite many of their policies being ultra-regressive. I call myself a pragmatist or skeptic - not a conservative. I guess it's habit.

No need. UK tap water has chlorine in it to kill bacteria. The flouride is supposed to stop tooth decay. Flouride does not stop bacterial growth or infection; and won't preserve anything. BTW: formaldehyde is as harmful to you as methanol - 25 mL/each recently killed 6 tourists in Laos. Oral LD-50 dose (mg/kg body weight) methanol: 300–1,000 formaldehyde: 600–800 Formic acid: 1100 to 1850 methanol oxidises to formaldehyde which oxidises to formic acid.

In England, Southern water is hard, and Northern water (in, say, Manchester) is soft. Because Mancs get their tap water from reservoirs collected from hills. Norgie land is very hilly too. You should have soft water. I prefer the taste of Southern (hard water) to Manc soft water, despite being a manc myself.

It's not ironic. They are not liberals. They are proggies. Proggies favour the Big State. The Deep State favours the Big State. Proggies and Deep State support each other; and think state intervention is saves us from ourselves.

@jarretta2656 It's been in British tap water all my life (I'm 71)

@theliato3809 No - progressivism is broke down into reactionary thought since proggies became tools of the Deep State. I doubt conservatives ever wanted flouride in tap water.

Yes. Take the flouride out of the water and put it in the toothpaste and mouthwash - where it belongs. BTW: The idea behind flouride it that it can chemically replace hydrogen in our teeth, and will then make our teeth more resistant to corrosion by acids produced by bacteria and plaque in our mouths. That was the rationale for putting it in water. But, ... it can more readily strenghen teeth if left in contact with them - for example - after brushing one's teeth - don't wash one's mouth out with water. Just spit out excess tooth paste. Better still - have one's dentist paint one's teeth with flouride enamel. There's no rationale for flouride in water. In contrast to chlorine in water - which kills bacteria and prevents disease. Flouride in tap water is another senseless prog. crusade - like COVID vaccines for kids.

A few years ago this entire sub-thread would've got everyone in it banned from Twitter. My joke about suicide was one of the 3 strikes leading to my life-long ban from Twitter.

Can't see the point to that ironic joke. Since, in reality, they'd ban uranium and plutonium.

Here are some ways I recommend to protect your teeth from tooth decay: 1. Brush your teeth twice, or 3 times per day with fluoride toothpaste and floss at least once a day. Don't rinse your mouth immediately after brushing, as this can wash away the fluoride. Instead, spit out excess tooth paste. 2. Avoid acidic and or sugary snacks, sodas, and energy drinks. The sugar feeds bacteria. The bacteria produce acids. Acid dissolves your teeth. 3. Ensure you get plenty of vitamin D, or sunlight. (The action of sunlight on skin makes Vitamin D). Vitamin D deficiency is associated with weak bones and weak teeth. 4. A study found that applying fluoride varnish to children's teeth at the start of the study and again four months later reversed the progression of cavities in more than 80% of the test group. The varnish was more effective than a gel and reduced the need for fillings.

Originally all drinking water came from rainfall. So all mineral water is unnatural?
