  1. Dear Patrice, My heart aches with yours. My 20 year old stopped talking to me 4 years ago, when she told me she felt like a man and instead of "affirming her" I asked her to wait and solve the psychological shadows she had. Instead she went to live with her father and then at then accused me of not being there for her. I felt it was unreasonable to jump into surgery and hormones at such young age. Her sister left shortly after that and she stopped talking to me as well. I cried every night for 2 years and last year on and off. They both told me what a terrible mother I was and never gave their father credit for all the toxicity he added to our experience. It has taken me 4 years to start accepting this and letting them go. It follows that given her father is a narcissist, they become that as well. I feel your pain. So hard to let go...
