Good talk - I guess having gone to an engineering school that featured both metallurgical and mining, it's not obvious to me that a lot of people don't know about the things that Peter is attempting to educate us. To a lot of people these things are out of sight and out of mind. It's a good thing that this bearded figure appears in the Colorado sunshine and reminds us of this aspect of our reality.

Cheap electricity makes aluminum. If a grant could be obtained to build a dedicated nuke plant jobs could be created for the next sixty years making alumunum. This is provided the alumina and recycled aluminum could be obtained.

@TheMrgoodmanners That expertise has been recorded in what we call "books." There are young people out there today who can be diverted from cell phones and video games to spend some time reading those books. In time, they will be considered experts. In fact, i am sure they can improve on the old processes. They used to call it progress.

You are right. Build new metal processing plants outside of the normally considered USA. I think Gary, Indiana may be such a place. A lot of jobs would be provided to the natives. A lot of wealth would flow in.

@machinist7230 Yes - It used to be made in Washington state when hydro power made cheap electricity. Then lots of people moved there and electricity wasn't so cheap.
