Looks like an opportunity for mining companies to develop other deposits of needed metals.

Sudbury has nickel, The UP of Michigan has nickel and I believe there are deposits near Duluth that could be developed. Foreign materials and labor are used because they are cheap and don't worry about the environment. Maybe, it's time to produce stuff in North (& South) America again. It's the same deal as the rare Earth metals that the US gets from China.

@douglassantet647 How about we go after that other 75%, eh? The needs of many industries can then be satisfied. Jobs will be provided and the world will prosper.

@tuckerbugeater It was a scam all right. it was a scam to "outsource" damned near everything because labor was cheaper and regulations next to non existent. Of course the rich business folks would say the labor is "more flexible." Fairy tales were told to us that helping unfriendly nations to industrialize would make them more democratic. It didn't work with Russia. It didn't work with China. Milton Friedman was wrong!
