  2. There was a tremendous amount of technology developed for coal burning over the many years. My heavy Babcock and Wilcox book about coal sits somewhere amongst my books. Coal created the Industrial Revolution.

  3. Pretty trees - Hope no forest fire gets them this Summer. Due to shipping costs, power plants would be "mine mouth." They used to say, "It's cheaper to ship coal by wire." Nobody mentioned Mercury in lakes and rivers. Neither Pete nor other commenters. Nothing about black lung either,.......curious.

  5. Australia has lots of Uranium. Make a deal with South Korea to build some nuclear plants. Then sell more coal to China.

  7.  @stephencullum8255  Yes - Take care of people that have sacrificed their ability to breathe freely and shortened their lives to keep the nation's lights on. If the country didn't have it's head stuck in it's derriere, some of those folks could be building new nuclear plants that take little land and would generate vast amounts of power for the next 60 years.
