  1. Barren landscape today - No green. How important is the "best" semiconductors? I grew up in the time of vacuum tubes. We had cars. We had radios. Telephones worked. The lights stayed on. I just wonder if having the latest and greatest semiconductors is just an increment better and won't matter much to the lives of most of us. Seems like you could do a lot with the old Motorola 6800, Zilog Z80 and the Intel 8080 chips too.
