  1. In a democracy, you ARE the government. Politicians will not be able to make these policies without support. I suspect that some of these undesired policies came from the rich who satisfied their needs and pulled the wool over every one else's eyes. It seems like housing and healthcare are problems that can be fixed if the people use the power of their votes to make it so.

  2. This is an unpopular view, but those cell phone providers could be either regulated to lower prices or simply nationalized. Nationalized industries are painted as the children of Satan by true believers of pure capitalism. However, when you look around at things like sewer, water and even electric supply it can work pretty well. You need your phones. There is no need for the service to cost an arm and a leg.

  3. We must watch for the tanks to roll across the prairie to North Dakota and the great warships from Thunder Bay invading us via Lake Superior. We should employ the best Cajun operatives to listen for coded French messages. For hundreds of years Europeans feared the onslaught of the Vikings from the great white North and I fear it is our turn. Don't be fooled by their pretense. It seems amusing to call coins "Loonies." License plates that issue statements like "Yours To Discover" and "Canada's Ocean Playground" and other simple things are designed to lull us into a sense of trust. What's actually in some of those good tasting Canadian beers? We should all thank Peter for his warning.
