What exactly is poor about it? Russia has invaded a neighboring country in a land grab so what is poor about what they are saying?

The EU is based on democracy and voluntary membership. How on earth would you compare that to invading a European country?

@jonathanj.7344 Iraq was a hostile country that was directly involved in training attacks against the US. Straight after 911 the US squashed it to send out a message that it would not tolerate any more. Up until 911 the US put up with many attacks with little response. If Saddam did not want the US to invade he and his Ba'ath party should not have allowed the operations to be based of Iraq. But what has any of that got to do with EU membership.

@SP-2317 An invasion is always a land grab of some sort. Unless they are going in there to destroy Ukraine.

@jonathanj.7344 If that is the truth of what Russia is doing then so be it but that is more than likely not what is happening. Ukraine military was not attacking Russia positions that was being claimed because they full well understood that they were no match for Russia. They fought to try and keep Russia out back in 2014 and lost and were fully aware of what a new war would produce.
