You have to understand that many of these academics have modern political agendas. Many are trying to blame the US for the war and so on.

It would not have matter if the Japanese had of completely levelled Pearl Harbour they were never going to be able to defeat the US economy. The US was the only economy and still is the only economy to have a complete economic top to bottom approach meaning it is completely independent and can supply everything for it self. The US produced nearly 100,000 aircraft for the pacific theatre and could have produced far more if it desired. The US produced nearly 90% of aircraft produced during the period of WW2 and could have increased that production output if they desired.

Japan attacked because it was delusional in its thinking just as the Nazis were delusional in their invasion of France.
3
SO are you saying the US was responsible for the actions of Japan?
3
The US did not know exactly where Japan was going to attack because technology was not sophisticated or detailed in that era to know the exact location of the attack if they were even going to attack at all.

Damage yes cripple no.

The US gave the Russians over 20,000 tanks, over 20,000 aircraft, over 400,000 vehicles, machines for the factories, industrial components, food, specialized materials and so on. That was the reason why the Russian military that was defeated was able to them gather them self up and start a counter offensive. There is a lot of mythology about the war that the US culture has helped to become prominent such as Russia winning the war and so on.
2
The Germans did the exact same thing. They actually beat the Russia military and had more or less had a successful invasion of Russia. There problem was that they also decided to take over all of Europe and declare war on the US. The US economy after the Russians were defeated supplied them with over 400,000 vehicles, 20,000 aircraft, millions of tons of aid, machines for factories, material supplies and specialized goods. That enabled the Russians to then have a counter offensive after they were defeated. The Germans could have just focused on Russia and the west would not have interfered at that point. The moral of the message is that mad men are not logical.
2
There was no series of actions that is one of the biggest modern academic myths that was put out there. Japan wanted to conquer the world and they started with the pacific and in doing that they intended to target the US. Australia was part of their plans as well.
2
Yamamoto plan did not work.

@Big Blue People need to stop with stupid complex theories. The Philippines is 8000 km from Hawaii.
1
Anglo Saxon And how would the Japanese Navy invade the US exactly?
1
Oh god what nonsense.

@irockthehollowbodies "directing US policies to drive Japan toward war with the US "
1
The US had put over 100,000 aircraft into the pacific and was starting to increase production beyond that. The US was about to direct its european theatre of war resources towards Japan and it would have meant their complete and utter destruction and could have ended with over half the population being dead. One US test run air raid killed over 400,000 Japanese before it was decided to use atomic weapons.
1
Japan always intended to start war.
1
Mad men tend to do crazy things that are not logical.
1
The put on embargos because the Japanese were acting as tyrants.
1
@davidbarnwell_virtual_clas6729 It did not matter what Yamamoto wanted or did not want. Japan attacked the US and from that point onwards was never going to win. It did not matter how much damage they did to Pearl Harbor. They lost and that was the end of it.
1
Yeah, I said it That makes no sense at all. They attacked the US because they thought they could defeat the US plain and simple. Even a simple person with no deep knowledge would know that the moment they attacked the US it was always going to be an all out war. Actions like attacking the US always will have consequences.
1
The problem was japan could never actually win.
1
@hc3657 Like the Nazi's they had no intention of being strategic and sensible they wanted everything.
1
It is easier said than done.
1
Japan had lost the game even before it began and it was not well thought out by Japan. When a country is a leader such as the US was starting to become at that point they became target number one.
1
There was no strategy the Japanese could make that would enable them to defeat the US and there was no right movement or decision they could make that would allow them to win. There efforts were always doomed and the same with Nazi Germany.
1
"western imperialism" That is a nice fantasy that you have there.
1
The moment they made any sort of attack on the US was the moment they declared war.
1
Both countries used the US model of market economies to grow their markets. That created the unprecedented growth they experienced. Nazis were socialists as where the Japanese imperial government before WW2 meaning it was impossible for them to copy the market economy of the US.
