  1. ***** The reason why manufacturers have stopped with plasma is that everybody buys LCD because they think it is better when it is not.  The issue facing quantum dot is will it be able to filter out light to produce pure blacks. I think they will be able to but that still does not mean they will beat OLED.  If OLED TV's can get within 30% pricing of LCD then marketing could push people to believe they are better even when they are not.  So LED LCD displays of the future could equal OLED and surpass them in key areas but people could just buy the hype of marketing.  That is how it works.

There is the possibility as well with quantum dot lcd technology to be able to filter out light so as to be able to present black cells without after glow as well.  This is fantastic for the consumer because either OLED will succeed or quantum dot will succeed or maybe some other technology will come along.
