  1. The gold is still there. They do not want to let politicians see it because if politicians get to see it their next move would be to spend it. If the left manage to get complete control of the US political landscape they will spend all of that gold. That is what the labour socialists did in the UK. The UK at one point had one of the worlds biggest gold reserves and the labour socialists just squander it all.

  2.  Andrew M  The US gold reserve is about 8000 tons. China has about 2000 tons. US has a population of 320 million, China has a population of about 1.5 billion and the US has a food production excess meaning they sell of more than they use.
