@Stevenhiggles The US government already spends about 4 trillion per year. Adding 2 trillion on top of that with adjustment will probably mean a constant deficit of about 1 trillion dollars. There is just no getting around this. If people want something like universal income then create a tax credit system that fades off as people earn more money but does not automatically get cut the moment they start to earn money.

VAT makes products more expensive. It will start out small and government then will keep increasing the tax. In countries that have vat products are more expensive. A product that is made in the UK will actually be more expensive there than it is in the US. Which does not make any sense until you realize that taxes are the reason for this.
