  1.  @kesfitzgerald1084  I had someone once try to lecture me and my children on the implications of Carbon in the atmosphere. I have a degree in chemistry, graduated medical school, completed residency in chemical pathology and have Phd in a field of applied mathematics and chemistry. What could a middle class liberal socialist convince me of when it comes to carbon? No matter how much data and science you present to them they will always go back to an emotional argument of us only having one planet or it is for the children or there is no harm in trying because if we get it wrong we are doomed. And another thing they seem incapable of understanding the difference between carbon in term of gaseous molecular forms and that of soot based carbonaceous particles. The vast majority of carbon from coal can be collected at incineration.

  2. Because back then did not put up with commie demands. Back then there was the USSR and most of those commies would have been agents for the USSR and under no circumstances would they have been tolerated on any level. Hence why certain miners unions were dealt with harshly.
