There is a fortune to be made from vitamins.
1
Getting outdoors will help vitamin D even during winter.
1
But is there a mass outbreak in texas at this point. Shutting down too early may actually create fatigue for the control measures.
1
@rabidsamfan The results will take a few weeks and most of the spread will then be in families and not in the greater population. Average incubation to symptoms is about 5 days.
1
I would assume like the 99% of people who recovered he will recover. The vast majority of people who symptoms are mild. The problem with the virus across a population scale is that there will be a large amount of people who are very sick. Age is not the factor that many suggest it is.
1
@JAG8691 The question will remain is the lock down area big enough.
1
Food should not be fortified with Vitamin D. If you want to raise your levels that should be up to you and not be put into food.
1
Vitamins are a multi billion dollar business and if the whole population was supplementing with them there would be more billions to be made. None of this has anything to do with money or big business and is purely political in nature.

Rand Paul is a medical doctor.

If you are stupid enough to try and correct that you will get eaten alive. China has a horrible track record and has butchered over 100 million people. Not even the Nazis or Stalinists did that. Currently China has 10 million people in concentration camps based on their ethnicity. Here is a question do you think the lab in wuhan had anything to do with the virus being out there considering it is one of the 24 labs in the whole world that is involved in that virus class research?
1
90% of Americans are covered by insurance and get the best healthcare in the world far better than those on waiting lists in the NHS.
1
What has public health immune system have to do with pharmaceutical companies. It is the government's who spend trillions of public health. People have their priorities all wrong. The UK government over a decade period will spend several trillion on the welfare state yet they put no effort into researching the immune system. The orange man is one of the very few world leaders that has actually directed expenditure towards public health immune system research extremely few other leaders have done that.

Hydroxychloroquine is a antiviral that does not work when disease state has developed to the point of covid. People who are having fevers and reactions to that fever process can get benefit from hydroxychloroquine. The treatments Trump will be receiving simply cannot be extended to everybody as the resources are not available.
1
@lorihamlin3604 He is the president so he clearly is going to be moved to the best healthcare centres in the world. I know there many out there who would like to see harm come to him out of spite that does not mean we have to read everything at a micro level and assume this or that.
1
There is little evidence at this point that asymptomatic people spread the virus. That was initially assessed on one case that turned out the person was symptomatic. Now that is not to say there are not "superspreaders" who can pass the disease without actually displaying symptoms one of the most famous of these was typhoid Mary. In the fog of war there can always be confusion which is what has happened. Panic is one of the big problems that causes issues as well.
1
@wimgarritsen2336 I was talking about panic spreading misinformation with communities so that people may end up doing the wrong thing. Somebody informed me that the seen a notice in a doctors surgery suggesting that if they come in with the virus that they should come in and put their hand up to notify staff. That is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

@bobbyt9431 Sitting out for several hours in the shade while getting natural light will still generate vitamin d within your system. Doing that every day will generate vitamin do of a level that is sufficient. The idea that you have to sit in direct sunlight is not the only way to have light hit your skin. Natural daylight will generate vitamin d not as efficiently as direct sunlight but it will do it. So even during winter you can generate it especially if you are outside for several hour. Farmers as a group generally are not vitamin d deficient even during winter months.
1
@bobbyt9431 Direct sunlight is the most efficient means of vitamin D production. Indirect sunlight supplemented with direct sun light can produce the necessary levels so as to reduce sun exposure. So a person who lives in tropical conditions where there is lots of sunny weather can supplement their 15 to 30 minutes of direct sun with sitting in the shade. Even people who do not get direct light but are in the shade for long periods of time will have adequate vitamin D levels. Even Farmers who are out all year round in the natural light but stay indoors in summer time will produce good levels of vitamin D. The issue with those in the tropical regions having lower levels of vitamin d is due to them sitting indoors all day long. https://www.cancer.org/healthy/be-safe-in-sun/uv-protection.html https://www.skincancer.org/blog/healthy-skin-made-in-the-shade/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0960076005002220 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6069363/#B7-ijerph-15-01507 The idea that UVA and VBA being fully absorbed by the earth is beyond ridiculous and the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Why would you say such a thing?
1
It has nothing to do with big pharma. People just throw out due to an automatic response. vitamin D deficiency is about people not eating correctly and not being outdoors. Most people should have their vitamin D levels raised during the summer and then in the winter months they should be getting smaller amount of vitamin d production from sunlight. So in summer it should be higher drops of in winter and then picks up again. The problem is that modern people spend 95% of their time indoors during summer and winter. Proposing that people take a vitamin D supplement does not address the route problem. Hospitals in the past used to take patients out doors to give them fresh air and natural light for a reason.

Truth? China has a murderous government and certain people seem to be offended when this is pointed out. Tell us are you offended by the fact it is called Chinese Virus?
1
@SolvayConference What drugs have been shown to be ineffective?
1
@mlr4524 How is it right-wing to call out a tyrannical government that literally has blood on its hands. Right now there are people in Chinese concentration camps.
1
@rollosinternet1853 We are talking about in our own life times and what is happening right now at the moment. We are not talking about ww1 or even ww2. Japan has a horrible history as does many other countries in Europe, Americas and Africa but that is not applicable right now. But we are talking about a government that is actively right now doing things right now such as keeping several million people in concentration camps and calling it education centres. Consignments of wigs were found to have had human hair from the concentration camps, Childrens toys were found to have contained it as well. We are not talking about historical bad things from centuries ago. Admit it you probably would defend the Nazis of WW2 when they were being criticized.
1
@rollosinternet1853 You are comparing the Allies fighting with the Nazi's to that of ethnic cleansing in China? Is your moral compass really that broken. So by your logic in defending ethnic cleansing and comparing it to the Allies fighting the Nazis you then in reverse must think it was acceptable for Nazi's to ethnic cleanse Jews since you seem to be thinking that China's ethnic cleansing is comparable.? I hope you do clear this up.
1
@Waitaminute2015 The US never murdered over 100 million people. So do not even compare the two. Every country in the world has a dark past of some sort. But we are talking about what is relevant right now in the world. Not something from 1800s or even WW1 era or even WW2. We are talking about post WW2 that occurred right through the 1960s,70s,80s and 2000s. Everybody knows that the US, China, UK, Europe, Africa and Asia greater has had issues with slavery in their past. There is not one region on earth that did not have slavery in its past. But that is not what we are talking about and you know that.
1
It would reduce risk but at what cost and what benefit and then how would we know that everybody is doing it? Reducing risk by a small fraction simply would have no real benefit.
1
@davidsheriff8989 Romans and Greeks understood this thousands of years ago but not in a medical sense but in their living and the evidence of that living. They understood diabetes could be treated with a diet lower in carbohydrates.
1
Those senators were probably just buying a selling as they always do. Selling does not help them in the long term.
1
Nobody has stated that Hydroxychloroquine was a 100% effective method not even Trump has stated this.
1
@ToMakeWhatLifesAbout Mucus particles which are produced in the upper airways can go down to 5 microns in size. The surgical masks you are referring to can only stop 50% of the particles at 140 microns in size. So while the masks may inhibit larger particles they will not stop smaller particles.
1
I doubt the media are making tensions much higher and they have also made the virus political.
1
It is the media that are driving all of this. It is they who set the public discourse. You will hear the public repeat many of the terms that the media use.
1
So what would you rather call it. Was it not the murderous Chinese communist government who allowed the virus to spread? Do you think that government spread it on purpose considering their track record of ethnic cleansing.
1
@rahn45 What are your current levels?
1
Who in their right mind in the US government departments thought it was a good idea to have co-operative projects with a tyrannical state? I suspect and it is only a guess that it is not just the US government departments that did this and that there are scandals with several other countries that should know better as well.
1
The Mayor of Manchester has been hosting special committees about racism because of Coronavirus. He is hardly a good candidate but probably better than the current leadership.
1
@sonsofodinworldofwarships7139 If you want to save on toilet paper use newspaper and then finish with toilet paper but that works best if you are able to burn the news paper. I have several years of toilet paper in storage.
1
I would take that study with a large grain of salt.
1
Living indoor most of winter probably has a bigger impact with influenza.
1
What are you talking about. Pharmaceutical companies do not have anything to do with the media or government public health. Most Pharma are not going to make any money from the vaccines due to the fact it will only give a short term bump. An extra 10 billion to the likes of JNJ is nothing when the rest of their business is going down.
1
@johnpitcairn5959 How are America and Britain slow to respond. They do not have the outbreaks like elsewhere. Both countries are a few behind the likes of Italy.
1
@johnpitcairn5959 40 days would be ideal but even at 14 days and those that are infected stay isolated it will burn the virus out.
1
Campbells statement maybe correct if Dr Campbell knew exactly how many people were infected but guess what he does not know. I respect a lot of what Dr Campbell states and discusses but under no circumstance has he been 100%. Anybody who is offended by China Virus really has a problem and has their priorities really confused.
1
It is pretty disgusting that governments were still allowing travel from infected countries. A proper lock down and restriction of travel could have solved all of this. If China had of acted properly and other world governments did the same we would not be going thank goodness we avoided that.
1
Millions will die in China and the problem is going to be the intensity of it.
1
The president is a large man who is 6 feet 4 tall and is 75 years of age. You would swear he was 15 by the way people go on about his weight. People put on age with weight and you will see that it is quite common for people of Trump size to put on weight at his age. Ironically most of the people who critize Trump for his weight are not exactly prime athletes them self.
1
@kordegroot4903 Trump is not obese. His view points cannot be changed just because people are offended at them. Tell us which facts are you talking about exactly?
1
The virus is not spreading through touch.
1
US diet is very similar to other countries in the western world. Only the likes of Japan would have a better diet.
1
In America you could buy antibiotics for animals that can be used on humans as well as they are the same substance just encase the health authorities get overwhelmed.
