People in the modern world do not live an outdoors lifestyle. It is one of the primary drivers of modern health problems. Lack of vitamin d, fresh air and physical activity is driving cases of illness. And then on top of that people have horrible diets that are really restrictive. People need to be eating meat, fish, many vegetables, fruits, nuts, tea, coffee, water and herbs. The modern diet of eating very similar foods over and over and over and over 7 times a day is causing problems.

The purpose of taking vitamin D is to supplement a low level. The long term solution should be outdoors lifestyle which is extremely difficult for those working in doors in winter time and when they go outdoors it is dark. And then they neglect their outdoor times during the brighter months of the year.

It has nothing to do with big pharma. People just throw out due to an automatic response. vitamin D deficiency is about people not eating correctly and not being outdoors. Most people should have their vitamin D levels raised during the summer and then in the winter months they should be getting smaller amount of vitamin d production from sunlight. So in summer it should be higher drops of in winter and then picks up again. The problem is that modern people spend 95% of their time indoors during summer and winter. Proposing that people take a vitamin D supplement does not address the route problem. Hospitals in the past used to take patients out doors to give them fresh air and natural light for a reason.
