+airborneexplorer Wash things with hot water and use any soap you can get your hands on. I would assume your child has picked up a seasonal flu virus. I knew people who had them as a child and their body goes a little bit nuts as it tries to figure it out. This novel coronavirus seems to be a focus on the lungs rather than being like a standard flu virus that affects many other things.

Elizabeth Chapman I would suggest having cheap antibiotics in your supply as well. There are animal variations out there.

@sasha219 There are videos on the topic. They would only be used in an emergency is the services could no deal with you or somebody else. Just to add as well you may be taking them with the aid of a doctor or nurse and not just taking them your self.

R0 could be the exact same for two different viruses but they could be completely different in characteristics. Smallpox spread because of high level population infection levels and a lack of public health understanding.

That means there may already be several million infected in China right now. Control measure are in place so it means the value will go right down in terms of infection. There may still be a growth factor due to the fact that people are at diagnosis stage.

There is little evidence at this point that asymptomatic people spread the virus. That was initially assessed on one case that turned out the person was symptomatic. Now that is not to say there are not "superspreaders" who can pass the disease without actually displaying symptoms one of the most famous of these was typhoid Mary. In the fog of war there can always be confusion which is what has happened. Panic is one of the big problems that causes issues as well.

@wimgarritsen2336 I was talking about panic spreading misinformation with communities so that people may end up doing the wrong thing. Somebody informed me that the seen a notice in a doctors surgery suggesting that if they come in with the virus that they should come in and put their hand up to notify staff. That is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard.

@sonsofodinworldofwarships7139 If you want to save on toilet paper use newspaper and then finish with toilet paper but that works best if you are able to burn the news paper. I have several years of toilet paper in storage.

In America you could buy antibiotics for animals that can be used on humans as well as they are the same substance just encase the health authorities get overwhelmed.
