The issues we have is that the engineering that is real world and can be applied does not need to be fully understood. When you jump out of an aircraft you do not need to know the actual concepts that enable a parachute to work you only need to understand that it does work. In many engineering systems you have an outcome that only needs to be successful without actually understanding all the details. You can model gravity and its effects without actually even knowing what gravity is.

It is the fast moving flow of electrons through wire but it is not electron flowing from the source to load. Each atom in the process displaces an electron by accepting a new electron into its shell and displacing an existing one. So the chain analogy is sort of correct and a good way to visualize it at a certain level.

Data cannot be transferred faster than the speed of light. But what can happen in theory is that a codec can in theory with a certain information exchange set of a series of actions that can give the appearance of being faster than the speed of light. It would be an advanced form of interpretation. If you have source A and final destination B and have a unique event there is no way that you can transfer that real information at faster than the speed of light.
