  2. Peter Schiff is talking nonsense. The very first thing he effectively says is wrong and can be easily searched for and established. China is not the US largest trading partner that would be Mexico or Canada. China is not even a manufacturing hub as many seem to imply as it is an assembly hub. Total Chinese trade with the US makes up about 2.5% of total US economic activity.

  12. The reason the dollar is the currency of reserve has nothing to do with QE. It is one of the biggest conspiracy theories out there. Counties trade in dollars because it is trusted. The reason they have that trust is because US market is enormous and still growing and is not going anywhere. QE is used because it has to ensure that there are enough dollars available for both domestic trade and international trade.

  17. It actually costs the US money and growth to underwrite the world's reserve currency. If the US was to disappear from the world markets it would cause turmoil world wide. China would collapse overnight as would the Euro. The reason the US uses QE is to keep the global markets lubricated and trade moving. The reserve currency was never used to keep the US market afloat it was used to try and keep the world peaceful which it has more or less done for the last 70 years.

  23. The problem with US debt is that people do not understand it is not promissory based. It is liability based. That means it is not a strict debt in the context of debt. It is not subjected to interest rates int he way other debts are. US debt will only affect future growth it will not cause the decline of the US dollar such as the doom and gloom people keep saying over the last 20 years.

  29. There is too much fantasy economics going on. Too much petro dollar conspiracy theories at play. The fed cannot control inflation as it was something that started outside of the feds control. They can increase interest rates to try and keep inflation cooler but that will not get rid of it.

  31. The US never used trade or its currency to form economic growth. That has actually hampered US growth. There is a cost to allowing the US dollar to be the currency of global reserve. it means Using QE and opening the US market to the world. It has kept the world stable of the last 70 years but it now looks like it has run its course.

  34.  @FreeSpeech4All  That is pure fantasy at best. US oil production is still number one in the world and has a large reserve to tap into. What people don ot realize is that the US has the worlds largest oil processing industrial system. That means other countries send their oil to the US for it to be processed into industrial components. People confuse that to mean that the US actually imports oil because it does not have enough. The US produces 15 million barrels of oil a day and could push that out to 30 million if it so wanted to but there would be no economic reason for the US to do that. Whenever the US buys in oil it means it is not using its own oil reserves.
