  2. It is his favorite films not what is the best films. Blade Runner is a fantastic cult film but it is not a patch on the godfather, Searchers, Ben-hur, Vertigo, Rear Window or even Lord of The Rings for that matter.

  5. Any movie that exams human morality and does it with care and history can also serve the same purpose. Movies like the Godfather and Vertigo can also do the same thing as can the likes of Ben-Hur.

  7. I prefer 2049 but you have to remember Blade Runner is a 40 year old film and when you see it in a cinema it really blows your mind.

  8. Films like Vertigo, Searchers, Godfather are at a level that 2001 is not at. I seen Casablanca at the cinema on 35mm film and it looked and felt amazing. Watching a black and white movie on a tv set does not do it justice.

  9.  @withnail-and-i  The themes in 2001 are not anymore deeper than in the Godfather or Vertigo. What puts those other films above 2001 is they are as well crafted and they also have entertainment. I am not suggesting that entertainment alone means they are better but when layered with production,acting and so on it becomes an extra factor. Rear Window is pure entertainment, suspense, craft and creativity which 2001 could never match. I love the likes of 2001 and Blade Runner but they will never match those other films. Unforgiven is a great film but is it better than 2001?

  10. 2049 is fantastic and I think better than the original but it is not as ground breaking. Remember Blade runner is 40 years old.
