There is a myth about Russia and WW2 that nobody seems to want to address. The Germans defeated Russia in Operation Barbarossa. The mythical counter attack only happened because the US gave Russia millions of tons of aid that would amount to about $400 billions worth in today world. That aid included some like 20000 tanks, 20000 aircraft, 400,000 vehicles, machine parts, machines systems and designs for industrialization. The US helped to build factories in Russia so that the people of Russia could be armed. There is this myth that Russia went and formed this counter attack out of the middle of nowhere.

Putin has terrible judgement on this issue. It is simple Russia is not a major player and its only asset is its nuclear weapons.

The next week will decide if Russia can carry out their encirclement of the key cities. If that does not work Russia then has to decide does it want to in the eyes of the world go and take the gloves off and go all out and crush the cities. They may get the short term advantage of winning and keeping Ukraine as part of the Russian cultural world but the long term the whole of the economic western engine is turned against them to make an example so that China can see what happens. And the ultimate outcome is that the whole Eastern region becomes an armaments nightmare for Russia. The CIA and the intelligence of the west has really ignored Russia but after this all of their resources and abilities maybe aimed at destabilizing different regions of Russia.

Give it a rest would you. You would swear Boris was Stalin or something the way you are going on.

@joek600 The US gave Russia hundreds of billions of aid (adjusted). You can try and make excuses all you want but it will not explain away the fact that the Germans wiped out the Russian military in Operation Barbarossa.

Pure conspiracy theory nonsense. Wall Street is not an actual organisation it is an area of market economic activity.

Russia simply does not have the economic engine to make it self relevant at a world level. The Russian population in 1995 was 148 million in 2022 it is 144 million. Russia has wasted trillions of dollars of wealth that it could have used to develop its economy and industry.

Iraq had attacked the US, Sponsored attacks against the US and above all was never dealt with after the invasion of Kuwait. The US pushed them out of Kuwait and then tried to sue for peace and that came back on them later on down the line.

The British economy is a massive player on the world stage and like Britain normally does it hides that fact.

@S Millner I will explain to what may happen and it will all come down to what Russia wants to do. Russia has tried the PR friendly shock and awe like the US did in the Gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq invasion. It has completely and utterly failed on every level. What will happen next is that Russia has the option of going in with the gloves off as it does not want to been to be defeated. Phase two of this might be about to get very bloody and it may shock everybody. Russia is already been pushed to the fringes so it may decide what is there to lose at this point.
1
Russia will pay a price for this if they do decide to take of the gloves. If they leave with some sort of an agreement at some point the west will start to normalize with Russia again. But if Russia decides to take the gloves off and destroy the Ukraine the whole of the Western economic engine will be turned against Russia. Russia has the advantage of the nuclear threat but that will not be enough to force the West to actually work with them. China and Russia simply do not have the economic engine to make it on their own as their economies as a whole are too reliant on Western consumers.

That is assuming that Putin and the power structure Russia really cares about the NATO issue and that they do not have another agenda at play.
