@dbadaddy7386 You would be surprised at the level of proficy of shooting in US civilian populations.
6
US has about 15 million veterans, over 1 million active reserves and 100 million young men of fighting age that could easily become part of the defence force.
6
I suspect that D day would still have worked even if a strong Germany was operation. Germany just had to wide an area to defend and even in a small area like the English Channel could not defend it.
3
That is pure nonsense. The vast majority of Americans love their country. Some blue hair college activist running around spouting stuff is not represented and guess what was not in the 1960s either. Most of those activists end up getting married and voting for Reagan.
2
US military spending is about 800 billion per year and US welfare state spending is about 3 trillion per year. US military spending is not that high really.
2
@dmo7815 Schools in the US are funded through the states with some block grants through the Department of Education. US total education budget sits at about $1.3 trillion.
2
US military gets its funding and does its thing.

Trump got elected because people were a little bit jaded with the political direction of America. Sort of like needing a new haircut and now that it has happened and changes were made people want a more stable leader. Joe was the first move in that direction but the next person to come along will offer real stability in the sense of a decent politician. Trump played a political character that was necessary for America to change.
1
@naughtyfred1639 You can throw all the insults you want but that is the perception from the public that voted for him. Trump will never win another presidential election.

Germany had 1200 submarines in WW2 and the US navy still broke their backs. A submarine could carry out a sneak attack but that is a one time deal. The US is massive and is not well understood by many. The distance between LA and New York is actually greater than the Distance between New York and Ireland. Subs would not be able to take out any real assets in land and even then would not get within a few hundred miles of the coast line. The moment they fire something is the moment that distance stretches out into thousands of miles. ICBM are far more complex than people realize and many countries simply do not have a program that would allow them to launch them at scale. Russian missiles are struggling in Ukraine right now never mind intercontinental.

@uss-dh7909 US has been retooling its industry and now trades more with Canada and Mexico than it does with China. In 5 years time US will have built its manufacturing base back up to include electronics manufacturing. There have been a massive surge over the last 5 years in Mexican manufacturing through NAFTA.
1
Nonsense. It would be impossible for a gas line to explode the whole way from Texas to New York but it would cause supply problems.
1
@colossebdumont879 Same arguments were made before WW1. Trade is not a guarantee of avoiding war. China simply does not have the resources to enact such an invasion.
1
Why hyper inflation?
1
@brrt3678 There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in America.
1
No president can actually destroy the US. There are also checks an balances to ensure that would not happen. Most people think these things would play out in days but they would really take years which is enough time for those checks and balances to work out.
1
little drane You are watching too many comic book movies.
1
Russia and China are no match for the US when it comes to industrial might.
1
Producing cutting edge control systems for guidance and air defence are expensive in every country. The infrastructure alone would require trillions in investments. It took the US decades to build nearly 100 semiconductor plants.
1
Texas still has massive agriculture lands and has nearly twice the level of agri land as France.
1
I am afraid building a stealth fighter, mass producing reliable service weapons, naval ships, air infrastructure and so on all cost the same no matter where you are in the world because they are based on cutting edge engineering.
1
The divide is nothing more than a media sensationalistic story. Most Americans are not at one others throats and rarely see this nonsense in their life. Those violent protests that pop up every now and then in the US have happened since its foundation and is really a society releasing pressure that other countries would never allow to happen.
1
US is not an actual empire so people need to stop with the nonsense. The US is a culture that has a political structure and is not an empire. It does not require force or the threat of power for it to exist as a culture.
1
China cannot even deal with its own problems never mind trying to attack the US to cripple it. The US is enormous. When people look at Russia they think the whole map is usable when in fact it is only a fraction of the country that is of use. The US on the other hand has usage of the whole country (not all land though) and has a transport system that allows such usage.
1
@martinbecklen6486 I think what they do to the US will be very weak.
1
Rome was not a country with a single culture like the US and if the US was to collapse it would just become a series of states that would still be militarily far more powerful than anybody else.
1
No other country beyond America has the resources to make that many missiles.
1
Cheap military equipment that does not have tightly controlled quality is junk. Because that is exactly what you are saying.
1
A lot of states have automatic selection but it is best to check local state laws as to how it is administrated.
1
Take Chinese figures with a pinch of salt.
1
@dmo7815 The vast majority of expenditure is managed through the states.
1
The soviets would not have had a manufacturing system without US aid during WW2.
1
@iamnotamused317 I think if German forces had of been larger they would have been picked off from the air as the allies had complete air dominance at that point. I suspect that the defences Germany had were as large as they could get considering the stage of the war.
1
Thank goodness the US is not an empire then. People are confusing the projection of US power with that of an empire. Empires require force to stay together a country like the US does not. The US is effectively a singular culture.
1
There is not going to be a civil war. Most people in the US simply are not motivated to fight among them self and there simply is no cultural issue that would start that war.
1
For Nuclear weapons to do the damage that people keep claiming they would need to be arranged in a perfect pattern with one hell of a control system to enable that perfect destruction.
1
The moment such an attack happens everything would just shut down to stop any spread.
